MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- Minnesota Timberwolves forward Chase Budinger has been cleared by doctors to start doing agility drills while he works his way back from a knee injury that has kept him out for most of the season.
The team says Budinger was cleared on Monday and will start doing more running on the court in addition to some cutting and jumping on his surgically repaired left knee. Budinger will be re-evaluated in two to three weeks, putting his return to the court likely closer to the end of March.
He tore the lateral meniscus in his knee in the sixth game of the season. The loss robbed the Wolves of a much-needed perimeter shooter and versatile swingman.
The Wolves start a three-game road trip in Phoenix on Tuesday.

Minnesota Timberwolves forward Chase Budinger hopes to play on Thursday at Sacramento for the first time since tearing the meniscus in his left knee in November.

Andrei Kirilenko left the Minnesota Timberwolves' game against the Suns with 1:54 remaining in the first quarter on Tuesday with a left calf strain. The team announced in the second quarter that he would not return.
Before exiting the game, the forward had played 10 minutes, racking up a steal, an assist and two rebounds. He had not attempted a shot.
This will be Kirilenko...
Time is running out on Kevin Love's season. The Minnesota Timberwolves' star power forward says his surgically repaired right hand is better than when he broke it in the preseason, and he's hoping to return in time for the Wolves' last 15 to 20 games of the season.
The Timberwolves have 29 games left, so that would put Love's timeline for return at around...
MINNEAPOLIS Timberwolves forward Kevin Love has yet to resume basketball activities after having surgery in early January on his broken right hand, but the face of Minnesota's franchise said Sunday that he remains hopeful he'll return to the lineup in late March for the final stretch of the year.
Love met with reporters at Target Center prior to Sunday's game against...
Kevin Love has battled a right hand injury all season and now aims a mid-to-late March return, that would allow the Wolves star to play in the team’s last 15-20 games. Love is currently resting his surgically repaired third metacarpal in his right hand that he injured on Jan. 3 in Denver.
Love also missed the first few weeks of the season with a fractured right hand injury and...
In what the Timberwolves hoped to be a playoff contending season, their star, Kevin Love, has only appeared in 18 games. Love broke his hand in pre-season, and returned on November 21, only to break it again in early January. As he rehabs from surgery, Love expressed wanting to play the final 15-20 games.
According to ESPN:
Love said he plans to meet with doctors for another examination...
MINNEAPOLIS The chances were there for the Minnesota Timberwolves to win. But after several missed opportunities, Sunday's game finished just like too many others have this year.
After building a 16-point first-half lead, Minnesota saw that margin dwindle in the second half. Unable to make plays down the stretch, the Wolves fell by one to the visiting Golden State Warriors...
Ricky Rubio made some sweet dishes in Minnesota's loss Sunday to the Golden State Warriors. Visual evidence of that after the jump.
The phenomenal point guard nearly triple-doubled with 16 points, 11 assists, eight rebounds, and six steals. Rubio looked like the pre-ACL tear Rubio. He also did some very Rubio things, making just 3-of-11 shots and turning the ball over six...
