Forward Taj Gibson does not expect to agree to a contract extension with the Chicago Bulls before Wednesday's deadline.
Asked if he's turning down the Bulls' offer, Gibson says that's ''the way I see it.''
He spoke briefly before the season opener against the Sacramento Kings. The sides have until 10:59 p.m. Central time to reach an agreement. Otherwise, he becomes a restricted free agent at the end of the season, meaning the Bulls would have the right to match any offer he receives on the open market.
A first-round pick out of Southern California in 2009, Gibson is entering his fourth season. He has averaged 7.9 points and 6.2 rebounds in his career.

When Jimmy Butler was drafted by the Chicago Bulls out of Marquette, eventually the idea was that he would replace Ronnie Brewer, and have a similar role within the bench mob. Now that Brewer is gone (and with him Kyle Korver, meaning 2/3 of the Chicago Jazz or Utah Bulls are now gone) it’s ready to happen.
“I have to be able to do what he did, and he showed me a lot,” Butler...
The Chicago Bulls have appointed Hall of Famer Scottie Pippen senior adviser to president and chief operating officer Michael Reinsdorf.
Pippen has been serving as a team ambassador. In a statement issued Wednesday, Reinsdorf says the new title will ''better reflect his role with the Bulls.'' He says Pippen has a ''great rapport'' with the players...
Derrick Rose may return to his offseason headquarters in Southern California while the Bulls are on their circus road trip.
The Chicago Bulls’ drafting of Derrick Rose in 2009 kicked of the beginnings of the all-American sports fairy tale. 2 years of the ragtag, scrappy bunch, with hard-nosed Kirk Hinrich and hot-shooting Ben Gordon teaming with the ROY to lead the upstarts to rollicking back-to-back 1st round exits. In 2011 the script played out perfectly; here comes the defensive genius Coach Tom...
Joakim Noah scored 23 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, and the Chicago Bulls got off to a good start without Derrick Rose, beating the Sacramento Kings 93-87 Wednesday in the season opener.
Richard Hamilton added 19 points, while Carlos Boozer chipped in with 18 points and eight rebounds.
The Bulls are out to show they can get by while their superstar recovers from a torn anterior...
CHICAGO -- With pregame attention focused on whether or not Chicago would sign Taj Gibson to a contract extension before Wednesday's deadline, Carlos Boozer reminded everyone that the Bulls have a quality power forward already under contract. Boozer finished with 18 points and made several key plays down the stretch as the Bulls held off Sacramento 93-87 in the season opener...
In an effort to stay in top shape for another opportunity, Kyrylo Fesenko had been training in Colorado since being cut by the Bulls on Oct. 18.
The Chicago Bulls are confident they can succeed while Derrick Rose recovers from a knee injury. With or without their superstar, the Bulls have fared extremely well against the Cleveland Cavaliers of late.
Looking to start 2-0 for the first time since 2002, the Bulls try to extend their winning streak over the Cavaliers to eight Friday night.
Joakim Noah had 23 points with 10...
