Andrew Bynum proved he could overcome some pain and light up the scoreboard Wednesday night.
Bynum scored 36 points one day after skipping the Lakers' victory over New Jersey because of a moderate sprain to his left ankle. Bynum's uprising -- one point shy of his season high -- helped the Lakers beat the Clippers on 113-108.
"Important game," Bynum said afterward.
Bynum was noncommittal about playing until he went through a pregame on-court workout under the supervision of Lakers athletic trainer Gary Vitti. Bynum did well enough to sell himself and Vitti, and then the Clippers had no way to stop him even with a potent frontcourt of DeAndre Jordan and Blake Griffin.
Bynum has five of his six career games with at least 30 points this season.
He gets a day off to treat his ankle before going back at it Friday night against visiting Houston. Then the Lakers play another game Saturday night in Phoenix.
