Does it seem like all of these US Olympic guys are in some sort of a pride contest with one another, or is it just me? On a team full of the world’s best players, everyone wants to be top dog.

Carmelo Anthony is no exception.

When asked about who is the best one-on-one player between him, LeBron James, and Kobe Bryant, Melo had this to say:

I never lost a one-one-one game.  I never lost a one-one-one game.  Never. Never.  But they might say the same thing so you never know.  I can only speak for myself.

So, yeah. There you have it.

Everyone who knows basketball knows that Carmelo Anthony is one of the best talents and isolation players around, leading to the safe assumption that he is probably a heck of a one-on-one player. But to claim he has never lost might be a bit of a stretch. Melo, there really wasn’t a time in your teens where one of your buddies got the best of you?

For the record, I’m taking LeBron one-on-one over Melo. James plays world class defense, and, well, Carmelo Anthony can barely guard his own shadow.

Wouldn’t we all love to see this, though?

  • He has lost a game of one on one

But if you think he lost a game of one on one to a buddy of his in middle school you are crazy. It says rasual butler had to try reall hard against him in this article. Rasual butler was about to go to college. Melo was in 7th grade, I really doubt one of his buddies would have even tried to play against him. And you must not watch melo much, he's a much better one on one player then lebron, and lebron would have no one too pass too. And lebron usually does a decent job on defense against lebron

Knicks Send Trainer To London To Monitor Anthony's Hamstring

Carmelo Anthony has been experiencing a strained hamstring for the past few days, though he believes it is not serious.

Olympic Basketball Becoming More Interesting Now That Everyone's Punching Each Other in Groin

Facundo Campazzo called it retribution, something akin to eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth -- only the body part in question was well south of Carmelo Anthony's pearly whites. Campazzo went from unknown to infamous in a matter of moments Monday when he landed a punch to Anthony's Syracuse Orangemen during the U.S. men's basketball team's 126-97 victory over Argentina...

France’s Nic Batum delivered a vicious shot to Spanish guard Juan Carlos Navarro’s junk

First Carmelo Anthony was on the receiving end of a fist to the junk, and now this. But this nut shot, delivered by France’s Nic Batum to Spain’s Juan Carlos Navarro, is a lot more brutal and vicious than the one Anthony took, because Batum’s intentions were as clear and articulate as a fist to the groin can be. The nasty incident occurred during Spain’s 66-59 win over...

Team USA smashes Argentina

One more for the gold, and seemingly nothing that can prevent it. This U.S. men's Olympic basketball team might not slow down until it's standing at the center of the medals platform again. Kevin Durant scored 19 points, LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony added 18 apiece, and the U.S. powered its way back to the gold-medal game by beating Argentina 109-83 on Friday night...

We meet again: Team USA faces off against Argentina in semi-finals

As Team USA prepares for their latest challenge for a gold medal, they will not need to be doing too much research into their opponent as they have now faced off against each other 3 times in the past 3 weeks(the first time, being an exhibition game, and the 2nd being just a few days ago in pool play.) There is plenty of bad blood between these two teams and that became evident...
