Carmelo Anthony will miss his sixth game and would not guarantee a return Jan. 1 against Portland when the Knicks return home to the Garden. Mike Woodson said he is “hoping” Anthony is back for the New Year’s Day game.
Melo spoke to the media for the first time since Tuesday, saying his knee swelled up on the plane ride from Los Angeles to Phoenix. He added he was barely able to walk yesterday, but claims he has no structural damage and is not going to undergo an MRI. Melo said he regretted not coming out of the Lakers game after Marcus Camby fell on his knee in the second quarter. He said he played through it “on adrenaline” and did not want to leave the contest because “it was Christmas.”
