The Cleveland Cavaliers continue to lose their top players, not that they had too many to begin with. First Anderson Varejao, who had been playing extremely well, went down for the season with a knee surgery and then Kyrie Irving is supposed to miss another three to four weeks as he recovers from a left shoulder injury. Now, guard Dion Waiters will miss approximately a week with a loose cartilage fragment. The Cleveland Cavaliers released a press statement on the injury.Cavaliers guard Dion Waiters left last night’s game vs. the Indiana Pacers at Quicken Loans Arena during the first half with left knee soreness and did not return to play. Waiters was examined at Cleveland Clinic Sports Health today by Cavaliers Head Team Physician Dr. Richard Parker. The exam, including an MRI, revealed a small, loose cartilage fragment in his left knee. Waiters will be OUT for approximately one week while he undergoes a period of rest, treatment and additional observation and examination. Following this period, and based on the continued evaluation of his knee, next steps regarding his treatment and recovery will be established, including the potential for an arthroscopic procedure.Waiters was having a great month and a half. In February he averaged 15.8 points on 51.8% shooting and regressed to 42.2% shooting in March. Even then, he was shooting at a higher clip than his season average. If he misses just one week, the Cavaliers will only have to play two games without him. If he needs an anthroscopic procedure, he will likely end up missing the rest of the season.Follow @hoopsinjurynews!function(d,s,id){var js,fjs=d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0];if(!d.getElementById(id)){js=d.createElement(s);js.id=id;js.src="http://www.nbainjurynews.com//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js";fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js,fjs);}}(document,"script","twitter-wjs");

When Waiters returns from his relatively minor knee injury, he will the leader of the banged-up Cavaliers, even though he just entered the NBA back in the winter

For Cavaliers, waiting to win has reached end
Whenever LeBron James comes to Cleveland, the discussion begins.
Will James return to the Cavaliers? Will he remain with the Heat? Will he wind up in some other unsuspected destination?
Theyre all legit questions.
We have nothing close to the answers to any.
All we know for sure is the Heat have won 23 straight games, or just 10 shy of the all-time NBA record, entering Wednesdays...
The Cavaliers blow a 27 point lead over the Miami Heat, is it time to fire Byron Scott yet?
The Cleveland Cavaliers had a heck of a lead over the Miami Heat tonight. It looked the Cavs had a good shot at stopping the streak. The Cavaliers went into the locker room at the half with a 55-34 lead over the heat. The Cavs were playing some great basketball and they were doing it without 2 over their first round picks over the last 2 season. Both Waiters and Irving were out for...
LeBron mum on possible Cavs return
CLEVELAND -- LeBron James is back in Cleveland, which means the question had to be asked.
Actually, the idea of James returning the Cavaliers someday probably didnt need to be brought up at all, but you knew someone would do it, anyway.
Unlike two seasons ago -- when James hinted playing for the team that drafted him was a possibility -- he gave the politically correct response...
2003-04 Cavaliers look back at rise of LeBron
His teammates called him "Elvis" because of his fame. They laughed when he donned a wig and sunglasses so he could walk around a mall without being noticed.
Yes, LeBron James was big news when he joined the Cleveland Cavaliers 10 years ago, But could anybody have envisioned back then the prodigy from Akron, Ohio, would end up being this legendary of a player?
As a skinny...
Cavs find positives, even in losses
Most people are not expecting much from the Cleveland Cavaliers at this point. They are a young, inexperienced team and they are playing without their All-Star point guard Kyrie Irving. Most teams see the Cavs on the upcoming schedule and think it is going to be an easy win.
But that has not been the case lately.
Cleveland is not just rolling over and riding out another lottery...
In fun and fire: Cavs’ video production team steals the show
I
am sitting in the corner of a dimly lit room and the smiling face of CJ Miles looms over my right shoulder. The only illumination to be found comes from low-wattage track lighting which hangs from the ceiling and the glow from a wall of monitors that cascades the front of this otherwise neutral-toned space. This wall, split into seven main columns, houses roughly three-dozen...
LeBron Entertains The Cavaliers’ Fans As The Heat Streak Goes To 24!
March Madness has started a day early, only the Cinderella team didn’t pull it out this time. Cleveland Cavaliers were up 67-40 with 7:44 left in the third quarter against the NBA champs, Miami Heat, in their own building, without all-star, Kyrie Irving, in front of a hostile crowd, AND LOST! What gives? This was the chance, at redemption, to give their beloved traitor...
Week 21: Making the Most of What’s Left
It is too early to say that Cavalier’s owner Dan Gilbert struck gold the summer of 2011? Landing top pick Kyrie Irving seems an assured victory in Cleveland but it’s just now that Gilbert’s draft haul is beginning to truly take shape as a resounding success despite a climb in the standings.
A large part of Cleveland’s bright future hinges on Tristian...
Fan runs onto court in Cleveland wearing a “We miss you LeBron” shirt during Heat vs. Cavs
The Miami Heat vs. Cleveland Cavaliers game Wednesday had tons of subtext before the opening jump ball. Obviously the Cavs are LeBron’s former team and the fans felt betrayed when he took his talents to South Beach. Plus, the Heat were attempting to win game number 24 of their current win streak.
The game started almost an hour late because of condensation on the floor due to...
