Jim Boylan, who spent this past season as interim coach with the Milwaukee Bucks, has been hired by Mike Brown as the Cleveland Cavaliers lead assistant. Boylan confirmed the reports in an interview with the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. They've got a lot of young guys coming in and it's exciting to be part of that," Boylan told the Journal-Sentinel. "I'm really looking forward to it. Boylan took over at mid-season for Scott Skiles, leading the Bucks to the playoffs, where they were swept in four games by Miami. The Bucks were 22-28 under Boylan. Boylan joined Skiles staff in 2008. He previously spent time as the lead assistant an interim coach (207-08) with the Chicago Bulls. Long before that, he was an advanced scout and video coordinator with the Cavs under Lenny Wilkens and Mike Fratello (1992-97). Boylan told the Journal-Sentinel his talks with Brown went well. "I really like his approach," Boylan said. "It fits in nicely with what I like to do. I've been in contact with several teams since being let go by the Bucks but I kept it quiet. I'm real happy and excited." Boylan has also been an assistant with the Atlanta Hawks, Phoenix Suns and Vancouver Grizzlies. Twitter: @SamAmicoFSO
