Cavaliers All-Star guard Kyrie Irving has apologized for missing a postgame ceremony for fans.
Irving was stripped of the ball in the closing seconds of Monday's 96-95 loss to Miami. He sprinted to the locker room instead of participating in a jersey giveaway on ''Fan Appreciation Night.'' All the Cavs players gave away their jerseys and sneakers after Cleveland's final home game.
On his Twitter account, Irving extended an apology to ''all the Cavs fans for my actions,'' which he called ''truly unfair to you guys.''
He added: ''I'm very appreciative for all of you guys. Your love and passion for the organization and city is what pushes me to be great.''
In the locker room, a team official attributed Irving's absence to a bruised heel. Irving disputed an injury.

Before his Cleveland Cavaliers would take the court against the Miami Heat on Monday night, Byron Scott sat in front of the town’s media horde and addressed items of past, present and future. Final: Sixers 91, Cavaliers 77
For a team not going to be involved in post season play, this was the perfect way to end the final home game of the season. The Sixers got out the gate early outscoring the Cavs 32-19 in the first quarter. It was obvious from early on that the Sixers would make a constant effort to make Kyrie Irving's night as difficult as possible. The Cavs star...
Don’t worry, we didn’t get overly political even as we talked about Scott’s trip to see the Mets with Ann Coulter in order to do a feature for Esquire. It was all just a ramp to Cleveland sports and some Cavs talk.

Kyrie Irving didn’t give him a vote of confidence and that pretty much sealed his fate.
