Cavaliers guard Ty Jerome, underwent surgery on his troublesome right ankle and remains out indefinitely, the team announced in a press release.
Jerome, 26, was signed this past offseason to serve as the primary reserve in the backcourt but has appeared in just the first two games.
He spent last season with the Golden State Warriors and averaged 6.9 points in 45 appearances.
According to the Cavs, the surgery took place on Jan. 23.
Jerome carries NBA career averages of 7.0 points, 2.6 assists and 1.8 rebounds, shooting 42 percent from the field and 35 percent on 3-pointers with the Cavs, Warriors and Oklahoma City Thunder.
He was selected by the Philadelphia 76ers out of Virginia with the No. 24 overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft.
