Cleveland Cavaliers' Anderson Varejao has been sidelined with a broken wrist since February but is hoping to be healed in time for the 2012 Olympic games in London this summer and hunt for gold with the Brazilian national team. "If I'm healthy, I will play in London," said Varejao, who has been a member of Brazil's national team since 2001. Many are pointing to the USA, Spain, and France are the teams likely to grab Olympic medal but don't count out Brazil. Brazil will have a roster that might be able to upset some of the top-tier teams. Aside from Varejao, Tiago Splitter, Nene (should he decide to play), Leandro Barbosa, former NBA player Alex Garcia and solid international players such as Marcelinho Huertas. This team has been together as well so team chemistry will not be an issue. Brazil will be a loaded team and will be looking to make a splash in London considering the team did not qualify for the 2008 Olympics. Also, Brazil's chances to fini...

Just as he has during every other month of the 2011-12 season, Cleveland Cavaliers point guard Kyrie Irving has won NBA Rookie of the Month for March. Through 15 games, Irving averaged a season-best splits of 19.9 points, 5.0 rebounds and 6.7 assists. On March 7, Irving scored or assisted on the Cavs final 12 points in the last 2:36 of the game, including making the game-winning...

Cavaliers' Parker uncertain about his future

Anthony Parker is an eight-year veteran who will turn 37 years old in June -- ancient by NBA standards. The Cleveland Cavaliers are undergoing a youth movement and likely will try to find a suitable replacement for him in the draft. A wing scorer is probably their biggest need. Also, Parker's 2.25 million contract expires after this season. All those things will contribute...

The  Cleveland Cavaliers, who lost to the Bucks at Quicken Loans Arena on Friday night, 121-84, were defeated in Cleveland by the Spurs on Tuesday evening, 125-90. Irving returned after missing one game with the injury and played Tuesday night against San Antonio. Cavaliers G Irving still slowed by shoulder

INDEPENDENCE, Ohio (AP) -- Cavaliers rookie guard Kyrie Irving did not take part in any contact drills in practice as he continues to recover from a sprained shoulder. Irving wore an elastic brace Monday on his right shoulder, which he injured in Friday's loss to Milwaukee. The NBA's presumptive rookie of the year sat out Saturday's game in New York, and coach Byron...

Pop still impressed with former Spur Gee

Alonzo Gee’s time in a San Antonio Spurs uniform was short-lived. In fact, you may not even remember he was a Spur. He only saw 18 minutes for the team last season, and 15 of those were in a blowout win against the Philadelphia 76ers. Now Gee is the starting small forward for the Cleveland Cavaliers and he’s taken his opportunity to become one of the NBA’s most improved players...

Box Score: Spurs 125, Cavaliers 90

Another game, another loss. This one in particularly ugly fashion. The Cavaliers played bad offense and even worse defense. There are no moral victories and no rays of sunshine in this loss. Pretty much everyone in the wine and gold played poorly and the score reflects it. You have to accuse a team of quitting, and let’s face it, this roster is not very good at all, but this team...

Spurs Will Provide Formidable Challenge For Cavaliers

I’ve got good news and bad news. The good news is that Kyrie Irving will be back in the starting lineup for the Cleveland Cavaliers (17-33, 12th in the East) tonight. The bad news is the Cavaliers are playing the San Antonio Spurs (36-14, 2nd in the East). It’s funny that the Spurs can continue to fly under everyone’s radar. Hardly anyone seems to be talking about them or taking...

Now is no time to worry about all this Cavaliers losing

The Cavaliers looked awful last night at home against San Antonio. They allowed twelve Spurs players to score in the game, a guy they cut for Manny Harris went for a game-high 19, and the Cavaliers leading scorer (Antawn Jamison, 15 points) also posted a team worst +/- of (-26). They lost the game by 35 points (125-90), and in the end it wasn't even actually that close really...

Cavaliers Coach Byron Scott Past Disgusted With Team

The lose tonight that Cavaliers suffered at the hands of the San Antonio Spurs may have been enough to push Byron Scott over the edge. Coach Scott is disgusted with the lack of competitiveness his Cavs are playing with these days. Scott used certain words of anatomy to describe what his young Cavaliers team is playing without. Scott can take a lot from his young team, a total lack...

Cavs' Irving doubtful for game vs. Spurs

Tomorrow night, the San Antonio Spurs will face the Cleveland Cavaliers and could face a Cavs team without star rookie Kyrie Irving. Irving did not take part in any contact drills in a Cavs' practice recently, due to a sprained shoulder. Irving wore an elastic brace Monday on his right shoulder, which he injured in Friday's loss to Milwaukee. The NBA's presumptive...

Scouting the Cavaliers: If Irving doesn’t play, Spurs have big advantage

Tonight, two teams headed in opposite directions square off as the San Antonio Spurs (36-14) travel to Cleveland, Ohio to face the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Spurs come in with a seven-game winning streak, while the Cavaliers also have a 7-game streak, a 7-game losing streak that is. The Spurs are coming off a fresh nine-point win over the Indiana Pacers on Saturday in which the Spurs’...
