Celtics Green ...a boston celtics blog.:
The Celtics dropped their second game in a row as they lost to the Spurs 112-100. They completely forgot how to play defense and how to rebound in this game. They allowed the Spurs to shoot 58.4%, which is the highest field goal percentage they have allowed since 2000. They also allowed the Spurs to score 58 points in the paint and allowed them to get to the basket at will.
The Celtics shot 53% which might have been enough to win most games, but not when you allow the opponent to shoot 58%. The Celtics were outrebounded 41-25 in this game. They also didn't have a single offensive rebound until Brandon Bass pulled one down with 1:28 left in the game.
Rondo was the high scorer in the game with 22 points. His streak of 10+ assists is also still alive as he finished with 15 assists. He also snared the Tommy Award. Paul Pierce scored 19 points but didn't grab a single rebound. Brandon Bass finished with 16 points and 6 rebounds and as I posted above, had the Celtics only offensive rebound of the game. KG had 14 points and 3 rebounds. Jason Terry started out the game hot but then cooled off, scoring 12 points for the game.

The second unit had just 17 points. The Celtics need to get more from their bench. Jared Sullinger again rebounded will with 7 boards but scored just 2 points. Chris Wilcox scored 2 points on an alley oop from Rondo and also had 3 rebounds. Lee continued to struggle and and finished with just 4 points. Green is still playing tentatively and had just 5 points and didn't get any rebounds. Barbosa finished with 4 points 2 rebounds and 2 assists.
The Celtics have to solve their defensive and rebounding problems or there will be a lot more losses in their future. They could use the excuse that they were working on chemistry for awhile, but after 12 games, they should be getting better, not worse. It doesn't get any easier, either with the OKC Thunder coming to the Garden on Friday. If the Celtics don't get it together on defense, the Thunder may score 150 on them.

The fine folks at Dime Magazine sent me this video of their interview with Rajon Rondo as he talks sneakers. If it looks like Rondo has a new pair of kicks on almost every game it's because he does. He says he wears his shoes a max of two games (and then gives them to fans).
Rajon Rondo does things on the court many dream of. He will never win a 3-point contest or run a kids basketball camp on how to shoot correctly, but the man is fun to watch. His recent achievements are historic.
Rondo has his eye on breaking Magic Johnson’s NBA record for consecutive regular-season games with double-digit assists. Johnson respectively had 46 games in row followed...
While you are digesting your Thanksgiving turkey, enjoy some of the bright spots of the game yesterday. Rajon Rondo dropped 22 points and 15 assists and almost brought the Celtics back, as the Celtics lost 112-102.

For those who like watching records fall or just enjoy following stats, their eyes are surely following the box scores of Rajon Rondo as he approaches the all-time record for consecutive games with 10 or more assists.
Rondo logged 15 assists against the San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday, giving him 35 games in a row with double-digit dimes, just two behind John Stockton...
Trading places: Green played well against his former team
Saying "best win of the season" is cliche. But so far, this was absolutely the best win of the season. The Celtics beat the Thunder 108-100, in a game that was hardly in doubt in the final quarter. The Celtics were led by Paul Pierce who was absolutely on fire, putting up 27 points on 8-16 shooting, and of course...

Sharp passes aren’t the only things Celtics players Rajon Rondo and Jared Sullinger were dishing out this Thanksgiving. The pair made their way to the Jordan Boys & Girls Club in Chelsea, Mass., to celebrate a holiday treat. The Boston Celtics’ charity, the Shamrock Foundation, made a gift of musical resources to the local children. Rondo and Sullinger jumped right in and...

Rajon Rondo resumes his spectacular point guard play recording his 35th consecutive game with 10 or more assists–two shy of John Stockton and 11 shy of Magic Johnson for the NBA all-time assist record. Aside from Rondo’s quest, the Celtics struggle to gain momentum early in the 2012-13 season losing back-to-back contests to the Detroit Pistons...

I just got back from an 8-hour drive this Saturday with only one thing on my mind…except for a couple X-rated things. I just wanted to sit on my couch, watch the Celtics play the not so exciting Raptors. Why would I be so enthralled over one lousy regular season game? The answer has two words. RAJON RONDOOOOOOO. Man, I haven’t been so excited over a player on the Celtics since...
The San Antonio Spurs (8-2) will visit the TD Garden tonight as they will face off against the Boston Celtics (6-5) in Boston.
The Spurs are coming off an loss to the Clippers described as "embarrassing" by head coach Gregg Popovich while the Celtics are coming off a big loss to the Pistons, however, Boston has not played since Sunday and will be fresh for this game...
On Friday night the Celtics matched up against the Oklahoma City Thunder. The team brought their three time scoring champion, Kevin Durant and old Celtic fan favorite Kendrick Perkins. The Celtics looked to battle to stay above .500 and did just that, finishing the week on a strong point with a win 108-100.
The team opened up strong in the first half shooting 52.4% from the field...

This just in: the Spurs are REALLY good. Between their incredible chemistry and remarkable passing, it was just too much for the Celtics to handle. Whether it was the FIFTY EIGHT points inside the paint or the 8-of-16 shooting from downtown, the Spurs just showed the Celtics what a title contender looks like a 112-100 loss. Thiago Splitter led the way with 23 points on 9-of -11...
