Bulls-coach-thibodeau
8 a.m. ET: Not having Derrick Rose has not turned out to be much of a problem for the Chicago Bulls. Then again, that should not be much of a surprise, given their leadership. Former Celtics assistant coach Tom Thibodeau is the head man in Chicago, of course, and under his direction the Bulls have not let the absence of the former NBA Most Valuable Player hold them back. The Bulls (22-15) are in second place in the Central Division and have won six of their last eight games despite Rose having yet to suit up. Their success is built on one of the league’s best defenses and heavy minutes Luol Deng and Joakim Noah. Even Carlos Boozer has rediscovered his double-double form of late. Meanwhile, Thibodeau’s former team just wants to get back on the winning track. The Celtics (20-18) let their guards down against the Hornets on Wednesday, leading to the end of their six-game win streak. With a strong effort against the Bulls, the Celtics can make that loss a forgotten blip in an otherwise ...

Celtkicks: New Colorway of the Nike Air Legacy 3

Over the past 3 games, Paul Pierce has been wearing a new colorway of his signature shoe the Nike Air Legacy 3. This makeup of the AL3 features a Black tongue with a green and white upper. This is one of the best versions of the shoe to date.

Your Morning Dump… Where the Celtics are back to playing mediocre basketball

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there’s nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump. Pierce? He was a different story. You want someone to wear the goat horns in this one? He’s your guy. He was horrible all night from the floor (5-for-17), he was victimized like a callow rookie on arguably the...

Celtics’ Late-Game Lapses Help Bulls Make Their Own Luck in Boston’s Second Straight Loss

BOSTON — Paul Pierce was careful with his phrasing, stepping lightly around anything that might be construed as criticizing the officials. Still, while the Celtics’ captain clearly did not have any desire to pay a fine to the NBA, he clearly was displeased with a controversial call toward the end of regulation in Friday’s game. “I think it could have went either way,” Pierce...

Milestones for Celtics Stars Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce

The Celtics host the New Orleans Hornets tonight, normally a fairly insignificant game on the schedule.  But today it includes the story line of C’s head coach Doc Rivers facing off against his son, Austin, who was the Hornets first round draft pick last June. This evening could also be a big night for Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce.  Garnett (24,809) needs just 7 points to pass...

Multiple Milestones at the Garden tonight?

Pierce and KG will overtake Parish and Ewing, respectively. The big story for the Celtics/Hornets game this evening is Doc Rivers vs. his son, Austin.  But, Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce also have the opportunity to accomplish some major milestones.  Garnett (24,809) trails Patrick Ewing (24,815) by just 6 points for 16th place on the NBA's all-time scoring list.  Meanwhile...

Green: If Doc's kid comes into lane, I'm gonna hit him

Boston Celtics coach Doc Rivers is feeling a little uneasy about tonight's game at the Garden against the New Orleans Hornets. Rivers is a little uneasy because he's not looking forward to facing his son Austin Rivers, who's a rookie guard on New Orleans.

Nate Robinson shouts out Steve Novak in NBATV interview (Video)

A couple of days ago, we here at That NBA Lottery Pick featured a story about New York Knicks forward Steve Novak calling out Bulls guard Nate Robinson for using his championship belt celebration.Nate responded to the diss through Twitter but he took it to another level as he decided to shout out Steve Novak during an interview with NBATV's Matt Winer on NBA Gametime:

Joakim Noah Benched Late In Bulls OT Loss To Grizzlies

Joakim Noah, the heart and soul of the Chicago Bulls, sat on the bench for the final 22:53 of Saturday night’s 85-82 overtime loss to the Memphis Grizzlies. Why? “Just a coach’s decision,” Bulls head coach Tom Thibodeau said. So was Thibodeau sending a message to Noah? I don’t think there’s any doubt about that. Thibodeau said after the game that he was just riding...

Kevin Garnett Feels Other Eastern Conference Players More Deserving of All-Star Game Start, Including Paul Pierce

BOSTON — After 17 seasons and 14 All-Star Games, Kevin Garnett probably would prefer to take the four-day vacation the majority of NBA players take in the middle of every season. He spent last season’s All-Star break as just that — a break — and came back rejuvenated for the Celtics’ second-half push. Garnett may have to cancel his mid-February vacation plans this year...

5 Things Celtics must do to win tomorrow - Pistons 1/20

The Celtics, coming off their really tough loss to the Bulls, will play another central division team when they visit the Pistons Sunday night. Friday night's loss to Chicago was excruciating to fans. It was, in my opinion, the toughest loss to endure since game 7 of the 2010 finals. But, life(and the schedule) must go on. So here's tomorrow's five things: 5. GET SOMEBODY...

Underrated Stat of the Night - Bulls 1/18

The Celtics have lost. This one really sucked. We had a lead with a few seconds left in both the fourth and in OT, yet we couldn't catch a break. Rondo played amazing: putting in 30 points, 2 rebounds, and 7 assists. Unfortunately, he fouled out mid-way through overtime. This one stings and I just want to move on, but I won't. Tonight's underrated stat of the night...

Your Morning Dump… Where Doc is still steaming about ‘Jump Ball Gate’

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there’s nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump. Doc Rivers and his staff have three problems with the controversial jump ball call on Paul Pierce Friday night with nine seconds left in regulation, and the Celtics leading by two points in what evolved as an overtime...

Recap: Close but no cigar

Key turnovers and shooting woes doom Boston as they lose their 2nd game in a row at home 100-99 to the Bulls. Joakim Noah’s steal with 0.09 left in the 4th led to a Kirk Heinrich 15-footer at the 0.02 mark which tied the game at 88. KG then missed a three-pointer (even though the game was tied) at the buzzer and we were headed to OT. The Celtics could only muster 1 field goal in...

Celtics Player Grades vs Chicago Bulls

The Boston Celtics fell to the Chicago Bulls 100-99 ESPN Boxscore CelticsLife Game Recap Player Grades: Kevin Garnett: 16 Points, 7 Rebounds Garnet had a very tough game tonight. He struggled offensively for most of the night, while he was beaten up by both of Chicago's big men. He came back in the 4th quarter and made some big plays, but it is tough to say anything positive...

The Best of Tommy - Bulls 1/18

As you might imagine with some of the bad calls last night, Tommy was fairly upset with the officiating. But then again, when I saw Marc Davis calling a Bulls game that we'd be in for a long night. We've know since that 2009 series that he and all of his family are Bulls fans. He's also given the Celtics fits ever since. Tommy's first tweet during the game was...
