The Detroit Pistons beat the Boston Celtics 103-88 ESPN Boxscore CelticsLife Game Recap Player Grades: Kevin Garnett: 16 Points, 7 Rebounds Garnett had a decent game tonight, from the boxscore stats, but his defense was pretty bad. Detroit's frontcourt put a beating on him. But it is not entirely his fault. He has no legitimate froncourt partner to help him out when the going gets tough. Garnett looked mortal, but we are depending far too much on a 36-year old veteran. B- Brandon Bass: He looked totally out of his league tonight. His downfall from last season has been tremendous. F Paul Pierce: 10 Points, 8 Rebounds The stats are very nice and all but Pierce played absolutely ZERO defense tonight. He didn't challenge spot-up shooters whatsoever. He kept losing his man. Pierce did contribute, and he had some decent hustle plays as well, but tonight was just not his night. C+ Rajon Rondo: 8 Points, 15 Assists, 9 Rebounds Wow. Rondo had a crazy game tonight. He put up t...

Joakim Noah On Kevin Garnett: He’s Always On Some Bull(crap)

Noah and Kevin Garnett, whom Noah once called “a dirty player,” battled throughout, drawing double technicals at one point. “He’s a helluva competitor,” Noah said. “He’s always on some bull(crap), just trying to throw elbows, cheap shots, trying to get you off your game. He has been doing this a long time. But it’s all right. “When we lose, I feel like he crosses...

Joakim Noah calls out Kevin Garnett’s cheap shots (again)

These two are never ever ever getting back together. In today’s “You probably saw this coming” story, Joakim Noah has once again called Kevin Garnett a dirty player after a hard-fought game last night in Boston. Here’s the quote from Slam Magazine online when Noah was asked about their dust-up/double technicals late in the fourth quarter:“Just trying to throw elbows,...

Joakim Noah whines about Kevin Garnett, again

After the game last night Joakim Noah (son of French professional tennis player Yannick Noah) was asked about playing defense against Kevin Garnett. Here's what Noah had to say: (I was) just playing defense. Just playing sound defense, just contesting his shots. He's a helluva competitor. He's always on some bulls---. Always on some bulls---. Just trying to throw elbows...

Joakim Noah Talks Up Kevin Garnett’s ‘Cheap Shots’ After Beating Celtics

On Friday night, after the Bulls beat the Celtics 100-99 in overtime, Joakim Noah said he didn’t want to talk too much, and especially not about Kevin Garnett, with whom Noah tangled again on Friday night and about whom Noah has had some pointed words in the past. So on Friday, Noah did not go as far as to say that Garnett was a dirty player, as he has alleged before. Instead,...

Comments from the Other Side - Bulls 1/18

Bulls fans sure do hate KG and Rondo.  I think it comes from having their own center and PG out played by them so many times.   It was great that even the Bulls fans realize that they were given that game by the refs.  That was a horrible call on the jumpball.  Pierce was clearly fouled. No call.  Rondo also signaled for a time out in Marc Davis' face and wasn't given...

Your Morning Dump… Where the Celtics are back to playing mediocre basketball

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there’s nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump. Pierce? He was a different story. You want someone to wear the goat horns in this one? He’s your guy. He was horrible all night from the floor (5-for-17), he was victimized like a callow rookie on arguably the...

“The locker room has become a playhouse…”

After Rajon Rondo called out his teammates for not taking losses as hard as they probably should, there’s more coming out about the state of the C’s locker room. The Celtics are a team — and that’s not counting Rajon Rondo, Paul Pierce, and Kevin Garnett — that believes because they are Celtics, because Rivers is the coach, and because the organization has been successful...

Comments from the Other Side - Pistons 1/20

The Celtics are just so inconsistent.  Doc was right to call them out after this game.   Hopefully that gets them going.  They've proved that when they give the effort they're very good.   I love the Bird/Laimbeer fight.   My favorite part of that was afterwards when they told Bird that Laimbeer said he was just going for the ball and Bird said that he was just giving...

Celtics-Pistons Live: Paul Pierce Aims to Shoot C’s Out of Slump in Detroit

8 a.m. ET: Two straight losses have given the Celtics reason to worry, so it may help to get away for a while. A two-game road trip against teams mired near the bottom of the standings therefore could be the perfect antidote. Of course, an opponent that was overmatched on paper managed to halt the Celtics’ six-game winning streak, so the Pistons (14-25) should not be taken lightly...

Kyrie Eleison: Cleveland Cavaliers beat Boston Celtics 95-90

Kyrie Eleison: Latin for "Lord Have Mercy."I’m going to keep this brief because I’m too angry to think rationally about this (I actually took a break from the game and put a moratorium on my in-game tweeting when I returned because I was too likely to say something stupid).Kyrie Irving was amazing. There’s no way around this. He single-handedly dominated Rondo (and...

Your Morning Dump… Where Doc is still steaming about ‘Jump Ball Gate’

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there’s nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump. Doc Rivers and his staff have three problems with the controversial jump ball call on Paul Pierce Friday night with nine seconds left in regulation, and the Celtics leading by two points in what evolved as an overtime...
