Jeff Van Gundy
CHICAGO - No one knows the vaunted defensive system of Chicago Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau quite as well as Boston's Doc Rivers. Thibodeau was a Celtics assistant from 2007 to 2010 and the two won an NBA championship together in 2008. Boston tore up that defense to the tune of 58 points and 59.5 percent shooting in the first half to take control of Monday's game at the United Center. Celtics guard Rajon Rondo piled up 20 points, 10 assists and nine rebounds, as the Celtics held off a late Bulls' surge to post a 101-95 victory over Chicago. "(I have) no more (advantage) than he has on me," Rivers said. "We do the same thing. It's no secret defensively. We come from the same place - the Dick Harter school of defense, and the Pat Riley and Jeff Van Gundy. We come from the same place. So I don't think it's an advantage either way." This had the potential to be a good night for Rondo when the Bulls announced defensive-minded point guard...

Jeff Green Cannot Play, And It Has Crippled the Boston Celtics Remember that vaunted Boston Celtics bench? The one that was going to carry the Celts at the very least back to the Eastern Conference Finals, with a chance to bring home Banner 18? The Celtics bench had the quintessential microwave in Jason Terry. [...]
TALKIN' 'BOUT PRACTICE
Boston Celtics guard Jason Terry has never been one to shy away from the limelight. Recently he had one of his shooting drills taped during practice. He took between ten and 13 shots from each corner, each elbow and the top of the key. In total, he put up 55 jumpers. Yes they were uncontested and yes it was during practice, but he hit 50 of them, including 13 in a row to...
Here are the full highlights from the game last night, where Rajon Rondo put up 20 points, 10 assists, 9 rebounds, and 5 steals

The one (slight?) concern that Celtics fans had in the beginning of the season was the lack of a pure backup PG. There were two sides to that: Yes, it is very important to cut Rondo's minutes efficiently, yet there are no backup PGs available who can do that at a satisfactory level. Celtics' experiments with veteran PGs have not been the best as we all know (save for Dooling...

Rondo got robbed of an assist when Garnett got hit.
Rajon Rondo's spectacular streak of 30 games with 10+ assists has led me to keep a very close eye on his ball distribution of late. As he continues to climb his way up the charts towards the all-time record, I watch each game intently keeping track of his assist count.
While at the Garden last Wednesday I noticed three...
In a rematch of the most entertaining seven-game series I have been alive for, the Bulls and the Celtics square off in Chicago at 8:00 pm. This should be the first real test for the Celtics since their opener against the Miami Heat and a test of team cohesion. The boys from Boston have played and lost to some of the middle-of-the-pack teams in the NBA, this will be a good litmus...
In an NBA.com article this morning by David Aldridge (scroll down past the Laker talk), Keyon Dooling tells the story of a nervous breakdown he sustained this summer, and his subsequent week long stay in a mental institution. He details the experiences that led to his decision to retire from the Celtics, which all stem from sexual abuse he suffered as a child.
Previously on That NBA Lottery Pick, we've posted some pretty solid clips from the folks over at Network of Champions. As part of their series with Boston Celtics guard Jason Terry, they allowed Jason to show off his shooting stroke.Check out this clip where he makes 50 out of 55 straight jump shots:
C’s come away with a big road win in Milwaukee last night, beating the Bucks 106-100. Boston is now in Chicago preparing for their Monday night game with the Bulls. Tip-off at the United Center is at 8pm EST.

After every game, we’ll take stock of how each individual performance affects the player’s overall value.
Offense: 20 points on a very efficient 10-16 shooting. He hit 5 of 6 shots at the rim, and 5 of 8 from everywhere else inside the 3-point line. A few of his turnovers were sloppy, but a few of his passes were spectacular.
Defense: He played the passing lanes...
Stop thinking and just do what I say
DeMarcus Cousins was suspended again yesterday. This time for 2 games for his attack on Spurs announcer Sean Elliott, based on Elliott's mild criticism of him on the air. Reporters wondered why he got such a serious penalty for going after an announcer, but it's obvious to me. It's called being a repeat offender. Try getting caught...
I like this. I can fill the whole ballot with Celtics and Thunder players. This is the first time I think that's ever happened. I know I'll be voting every day. Here's the link if you want to vote. All Star Ballot Here.
