Charles Barkley refuses to apologize for Nuggets hot take

Charles Barkley's unapologetic demeanor has made him a beloved television personality for years. Why would he stop being himself now?

During Monday's "Inside the NBA" on TNT, the crew played a clip of Nuggets coach Michael Malone addressing Barkley and other pundits who wrote off his team after they went down 0-2 against the Timberwolves. Malone revealed he created a two-minute edit video showing analysts such as Barkley declaring that the series was over and that Minnesota was a better team.

While responding to Malone's comments, Barkley flat-out refused to apologize. If anything, he doubled down on his take and questioned Malone for being too pompous.

"He wants to act like he played a tape — I don't care," Barkley said of Malone. "I've always liked Michael Malone, but he annoys me because he thinks, 'Hey I won the championship.' He ain't the greatest thing since sliced bread. We only can go by what we saw and if you watched those first two games..."

Barkley also refuted the notion that Malone's two-minute video helped the champions regain confidence.

"Give the Denver Nuggets credit, but don't act like that tape spurred the [comeback]. We get paid to give an opinion."

Barkley's co-panelists Shaquille O'Neal and Kenny Smith disagreed with his take, insisting that Malone's strategy likely helped the Nuggets get back on track. O'Neal even cited his experiences using media criticism to fuel him up and raise his level of play on the basketball court.

The Nuggets will host the Timberwolves for Game 5 on Tuesday. The series is tied at two wins apiece.
