Picture A great player but not enough to win a championship. Charles Oakley was one of the most physical power forwards when he used to play back in the day, but now he has turned his attention to other players. Basically he would like to point out that Kevin Garnett isn't as tough as Garnett would like everybody to believe. Just a whole lot of screaming and yelling with nothing to back it up. He also said that if Kendrick Perkins would actually step up and play, Oklahoma City would win a championship. Then he ended with basically saying Charles Barkley is a clown.

I'm not one to say that Oakley wasn't a great basketball player when he played, but this seems like it's going down the road of Lebron James saying anything. Case in point being that he's not allowed to say anything because he doesn't have a ring, and when he does say something nobody listens. When you call out somebody who only needs to respond by showing you multiple rings, your argument goes right out the window. I think if Oakley chose better words everybody wouldn't be tearing him apart all across the internet.

TL;DR If you've never won a championship you're not allowed to talk down to other players.

Charles Oakley Calls Kevin Garnett One of 'Weakest Guys to Ever Play,' Also Rips Kendrick Perkins, Charles Barkley [NESN]

Charles Oakley calls Kevin Garnett ‘one of the weakest guys to ever play the game’

I really don’t feel like discussing “Kevin Garnett, tough guy or fake tough guy” again (you can read my thoughts on that matter here) but Charles Oakley made some bold comments regarding Garnett that probably deserve mentioning.  (Larry Brown Sports)“Garnett left Minnesota and hollered and screamed and all that but hes not a tough guy,” Oakley said as Sports Talk Network...

<a href="" class="moshare-button-21" data-message="Former New York Knicks bad boy, Charles Oakley has a cooking show? After hearing Oakley on the Jim Rome show yesterday rip anyone and everyone I decided to do some research and found this gem from 2008. According to an old article by our friends at Black Sports Online...

According to Rotoworld, Jermaine O'Neal will sit out tonight when the Celtics take on the Thunder in Oklahoma City. O'Neal injured his wrist while taking a charge in Monday night's game against the Dallas Mavericks. Rookie Greg Stiemsma is expected to start in his place. Your Morning Dump... A positive spin to the Celtics season

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here... highlighting the big storyline. Because there's nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump. In a condensed season, an experienced team like the Celtics just wants to survive the regular season and get a decent seed in the playoffs. And though it hasn't been pretty (they've cracked the 100...

Charles Oakley says Kevin Garnett is a fake tough guy and Charles Barkley is a fraud

Former NBA player Charles Oakley’s reputation in the NBA was legendary. Some of the thug-nificant off court alleged incidents are even crazier. Oakley has never been known to hold his tongue so you know his recent radio interview with Jim Rome is absolutely full of quotables. Oakley shared his thoughts on Kevin Garnett (he’s not a [...]

Barkley, Smith To Work NCAA Tournament Telecasts

Charles Barkley and Kenny Smith will provide studio analysis throughout the NCAA tournament.

Charles Oakley is old school y’all

Once upon a time, before athletes became acutely sensitive to every-little-slight or criticism, athletes used to be able to criticize each other with impunity. But then we had crap like Sammy Sosa and Mark McGuire holding hands during the homerun chase, and applauding your competitors became the thing to do. In the age of 24/7 media, GOD FORBID we ever hear a disparaging word about...

Boston Getting Beat Down!

Kevin Garnett is fading fast.Despite being a lifelong Boston Celtics fanatic, I think the state of the C’s right now is quite funny!I know that may not sound right, but I’m sorry … I’m just blown away at the fact that Doc Rivers and President Danny Ainge have let the aging team reach its current state.I mean, how obvious is it that the Celtics are as slow as a damn turtle...

Recap: Celtics leave OKC with a moral victory

I didn't watch enough of this game to offer legitimate analysis, but I will give the Celtics a boat load of credit for cutting a 27-point deficit (83-56 with 6:35 remaining in 3rd quarter) to 6 points late in the 4th quarter. The Celtics had two sloppy turnovers (Pietrus bad pass and KG's drop) that squelched the comeback. OKC ran away with it 119-104. Avery Bradley...

Shaq brags about bad test scores

Here's our hero Shaquille O'Neal on Inside the NBA from Monday night, doing a little trivia game. In addition to bragging about going to THREE colleges, Shaq brags about his standardized test scores... a 780 on the SAT and a 22 on the ACT. At the time when Shaq would have been taking the tests, the SAT was out of 1600, and the 15th percentile was more than 85...

Celtics-Thunder Preview

When the NBA's condensed schedule was released, one spot for the Oklahoma City Thunder to circle seemed to be a back-to-back home stretch against the league's premier historical powerhouses. Given the current state of the Boston Celtics, the Thunder's biggest obstacle might be looking ahead. The Thunder go for their 11th consecutive home win Wednesday night against...
