TEAMS: Chicago Bulls, Houston Rockets, Sacramento Kings, Indiana Pacers, New York Knicks, Brooklyn Nets
Last night, NBA-TV announced the 2012-13 NBA schedule. In a season that will likely only feature 1-2 months of Derrick Rose action, the Bulls lucked out and finally received an easier schedule than in year’s past. The circus trip seems exceptionally light this season with the only real threat being the L.A. Clippers. Chicago was also surprisingly awarded a prime time Christmas Day game against the Houston Rockets. 26 games will be televised nationally (however, if you have WGN-TV, that number will likely go up). The Bulls play the Heat, Celtics, Knicks & Nets all 4 times a piece. Let’s take a look at some of this season’s key dates:
10/31/12 – ( VS. KINGS) The Bulls will open the 12-13 NBA season in a home game against the Sacramento Kings. This will also be the NBA’s first look at rookie forward Thomas Robinson who tore it up in the NCAA tournament last season.
11/8/12 – (VS. THUNDER) This game marks their first look at the Western Conference champion Thunder and signals their first REAL competition of the year. This is also the Bulls first nationally televised game of the season.
11/12/12 – (VS. CELTiCS) The rivalry continues. Enough said.
11/21/12 – (VS. ROCKETS) 2nd to last circus trip game where the Bulls first clash with former back up center Omer Asik, and his new star point guard Jeremy Lin.
12/1/12 – (VS. 76ER’S) The Bulls first game against the team that eliminated them in the 1st round of the playoffs last year. Philly seems to believe they can beat Chicago again and that there’s some rivalry, however there isn’t.
12/4/12 – (VS. PACERS) The Central Division threat begins and ends with the Indiana Pacers. There’s also a rivalry that got kind of heated the last time I visited Conseco. Indiana fans aren’t all nice like they use to be. They can’t stand when Bulls fans take over their arena.
12/11/12 (VS. KNICKS) The Bulls visit the Madison Square Garden for the 1st time. The Knicks are a serious threat this year. They have a ton of talent packed on this roster, including former Bench Mob member Ronnie Brewer.
12/15/12 – (VS. NETS) First game against the Brooklyn Nets. CJ Watson plays for this train wreck now.
12/25/12 – (VS. ROCKETS) 2nd meeting against the Rockets, this time on Christmas. Don’t pretend like you won’t be watching.
1/4/12 – (VS. HEAT) We hate em, but they’re the most dangerous team in the NBA now. If Rose was playing, this would be nationally televised on ESPN…however, he’s not.
1/21/13 – (VS. LAKERS) Nash, Kobe & Bynum all on one team. How can you not be excited for this game?
4/14/12 – (VS. HEAT) The final game against the Heat. By this time in the season, Rose will hopefully be back in this nationally televised game and the playoff picture will be pretty clear.
Get excited. Go Bulls!
