LOS ANGELES -- Clippers backup guard Jamal Crawford, who leads the NBA in bench scoring with a 16.5 average, was scratched from the lineup for Friday nights game against the Lakers because of a sore left foot.
Clippers coach Vinny Del Negro said Crawford sustained the injury Tuesday night against the Denver Nuggets. He played the next night against the Golden State Warriors, however, and had a team-high 24 points.
Starting forward Caron Butler, who missed the Warriors game for personal reasons, was back in the starting lineup against the Lakers. Del Negro said Butler did not take part in the morning shoot-around because of a sinus migraine but was still expected to play.
Meanwhile, guard Chauncey Billups, who has played in just three games this season, probably will resume practicing Saturday, Del Negro said. Billups made a successful return from a torn left Achilles tendon in November, then went down again on Dec. 5 because of tendinitis in his left foot.

The Los Angeles Clippers are set at the point guard position. They have Chris Paul starting, and they have Eric Bledsoe coming off the bench. Bledsoe is good enough to provide an immediate impact with just about any other team in the league, but the Clippers do not want to let him go. But the trade rumors and interest from teams is going to continue. Marc Stein of ESPN says...
Eric Bledsoe has flourished as the Clippers' primary backup to Chris Paul.
On Friday night at Staples Center, the Lakers and Clippers will face off for the second time this season, and Los Angeles' long-time second-tier franchise is in a position to take a 2-0 series lead over its more glorious, more celebrated neighbor.
That alone makes the game a must-watch.
But it's the fact that the Clippers are poised to compete over and perhaps win the...

Los Angeles is a two-team town. California is a four-team state.
Only one team is at the top of that mountain. Only one team right now looks like a championship-caliber team. Only one of these teams looks serious.
Yes, that would be the Clippers. It still...
LOS ANGELES It's not about the Lakers anymore. There might still be a rivalry a battle to stake a claim to LA but the Clippers look at themselves from a different angle, a different standard.
They beat the Lakers 107-102 Friday night at Staples Center and ended a two-game losing streak. The fact it was their co-tenant they beat seemed less important than proving they could...
LOS ANGELES -- There was a time when a two-game losing streak was just a sign of things to come for the Los Angeles Clippers, a mini-slide that started a mudslide that started an avalanche. Now for the scorching Clippers, two meaningless losses are but a light drizzle. Chris Paul scored 27 points and Blake Griffin added 20 as the Los Angeles Clippers, who built a 23-point halftime...
“They’re very spectacular. They’re fun to watch. There’s no question about it,” Bryant said Thursday before going a step further. “They have higher jumpers than Showtime, though.”
…Bryant deemed the Clippers championship-worthy.
“Oh, for sure. They’re definitely one of the top contenders,” he said, crediting Chris Paul and Blake Griffin.
“[Paul] is extremely...
The Battle for LA is REAL. Clippers vs. Lakers may not have been an official rivalry before, it’s arrived this season. The Clippers came out aggressive in the first quarter. But Kobe Bryant looked like he wanted to remind Chris Paul that this is still his city. Better call Cliff Paul? The Black Mamba [...]
LOS ANGELES -- Chris Paul had a double-double in the first half and finished with 30 points and 13 assists to lead the Los Angeles Clippers to a 107-102 win over the Los Angeles Lakers on Friday night at Staples Center. Without leading reserve Jamal Crawford, sidelined by a sore foot suffered Tuesday in their win streak-snapping loss at Denver, the Clippers turned to their two...
Tonight when Kobe Bryant looks across the court at the Los Angeles Clippers, he’ll be gazing into the eyes of the future, while at the same time seeing a familiar past. Gone are the days when the Lakers would run their city mates off the court seemingly before halftime. It’s the Clippers who enter [...]
