STATELINE, Nev. Dwight Howard might have found his landing spot in Houston two weeks ago, but the embattled center continues to hear his name all over the media. First it was Shaquille O'Neal claiming he couldn't hack it in Los Angeles. Earlier this week, it was Jon Hamm's joke at the ESPY awards about the lack of highlights with the Lakers this past season that became the event's best highlight. Now, Stephen Curry, in South Lake Tahoe to play in the American Century Championship celebrity golf tournament, said his Golden State Warriors are just fine without the former Laker. "We made a pitch as you should for any free agent like that, but when it came down to it we felt like we were in a good position either way with Andrew Bogut," Curry said. The Lakers' Pacific Division rival were said to have made an aggressive push for the All-Star and were one of a handful of teams that met with him. Golden State aggressively shed cap space in an attempt to land Howard but it was to no avail. But Curry doesn't seem to mind. "Being the dominant force like he is when he's healthy, we feel like he can be as good if not better than Dwight," Curry said. "We're in a good spot regardless of what happened with that." Instead, the Warriors upgraded their defense with swingman Andre Igoudala in a move that Curry thinks has positioned the Warriors favorably in the Western Conference. "We kept pace with the whole Western Conference, I think, getting everybody healthy was the first part," Curry said. "That move we made with Andre, while all that was going on on the national scene, it was big for our front office." Although it might have slowed down, the Howard saga hasn't quite lost steam just yet.
