There has been so much chatter about the Dallas Mavericks’ championship rings, it’s somewhat surprising that we actually got to this point. Nine players from last year’s Mavericks team received their rings on Wednesday night in Dallas. Seven players are still on the team, while Peja Stojakovic, who is now retired, attended the ceremony. Former Dallas point guard J.J. Barea’s Timberwolves were playing the Mavs, so he got his ring as well.

Of course you’re wondering all about these bad boys, so we have the details via the Star-Telegram.

The rings are made of 14K white gold and they contain 250 total diamonds. 219 are brilliant round diamonds while 31 are custom cut princess diamonds. They are a total of 10 karats, and the total ring weighs 91.7 grams.

The Mavs logo is on top set against a custom blue stone encircled by 31 princess cut diamonds, one for each year of the organization.

The top features “World Champions” flanked by a 10 round cut diamonds.

The players name and number are on side A along with the NBA logo and one diamond star signifying the first title for the Mavs. The secondary logo is set with another custom blue stone inside a basketball. The M is emblazoned with with 15 diamonds to represent the 15 memebers of the championship team.

Side B incorporates “Dallas Mavericks” alongw ith the team motto, “The Time is Now”, engraved in a banner behind the Larry O’Brien trophy. Round diamonds fill the trophy flanked by 2011.

Inside the band is the original Mavs team logo in honor of the first owner Donald Carter in addition to the results of the four playoff series.

If you’re wondering why they received their rings so late into the season, it’s because team owner Mark Cuban wanted the players’ input on the design, but he could not consult with them during the lockout.

Tyson Chandler, DeShawn Stevenson, Caron Butler, and Corey Brewer will receive their rings when their new teams play the Mavs.

As a major letdown, the Mavs lost to the Timberwolves 105-90.

Here are a few close-up looks at the rings:
