Kendrick Perkins, Rajon Rondo, Jeff Green, Russell Westbrook, Boston Celtics, Celtics News, State Of The Celtics
I guess Danny Ainge realized he made a boo-boo.

If you believe Chris Broussard (which I normally do), Ainge saw what the Kendrick Perkins trade did to his team last season, slammed his head on a table and then picked up the phone to call Oklahoma City in order to right a wrong—or admit that he had been taken to the cleaners by Sam Presti. (ESPN Boston)

ESPN's Chris Broussard dug up yet another interesting Celtics tidbit for us this evening, one that casts last season's Kendrick Perkins-for-Jeff Green trade in an entirely new light.
After last season's playoffs, the Celtics offered Rajon Rondo and Green to Oklahoma City for Russell Westbrook and Perkins, sources told Broussard. The Celtics, looking for another scorer who can create his own offense, thought Westbrook might be available after his erratic postseason play. But Oklahoma was not interested in the deal.

Not a bad idea, Danny. You saw the problem with the Celtics and tried to fix it. Of course, you could have not traded Kendrick Perkins in the first place, kept your hold on first place in the East, had home-court advantage, allowed the team chemistry to continue to flourish and not wasted a very valuable year with the Big Three. Instead, you broke up the nucleus of the club and tried to fix it by offering Green, who OKC would have gift-wrapped if Ainge had asked them to, and Rondo for his polar opposite in Westbrook and the big man that they had needed for so long and—shockingly—the Thunder didn't take the bait. But what do I know? I'm just a blogger.

I wish I could have been a fly on the wall of Presti's office when he got that call from Ainge as he tried not to snicker during the phone call. I bet his sides still hurt.

Danny Ainge said Thursday during a press conference that the Boston Celtics will not take advantage of the league’s amnesty clause.“”We are not amnestying anybody,” Ainge said, inventing a new word in the process. An amnesty clause was included in the new collective bargaining agreement, designed to give teams a mulligan (of sorts) on a bad contract. Your Morning Dump... Is Rondo's attitude wearing on his teammates?

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here... highlighting the big storyline. Because there's nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump. Your Morning Dump... Where Danny will listen to Rondo offers

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here... highlighting the big storyline. Because there's nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump. While Boston is not shopping Rajon Rondo, it would be open to trading him in the right deal, sources say. The Celtics feel they need more scoring to take the load off Paul Pierce. ESPN:  Chris Paul...

Celtics GM Danny Ainge: No Plans to Trade Rajon Rondo

Danny Ainge wants the hoops world to know (or at least believe) that despite his point guard’s name appearing in all kinds of trade rumors lately, Rajon Rondo isn’t being shopped by the Celtics. From the Boston Globe: “Ainge said that the team’s greatest need is size, but said that he’s also got a point guard position (a backup) and wing positions to fill. He said the...

Shaq: Chris Paul is not better than Rajon Rondo

Shaquille O'Neal - the man with an opinion on everything - offered his two cents on the Chris Paul-for-Rajon Rondo trade rumors during a morning appearance on 98.5: “Everyone is tradeable, you could probably get a lot for Rajon Rondo but he is the heart and soul of the team,” retired star Shaquille O’Neal told 98.5 The Sports Hub’s Toucher and Rich. “I don’t think...

Celtics again turn to trade-rumor tactic to motivate Rajon Rondo

Report: Ainge, Hornets have discussed Rondo for CP3

Sports Illustrated's Sam Amick has taken the Rajon Rondo trade rumors to the next level: Ainge, the sources say, has recently discussed trading Rondo in a deal that nets Paul, but the Hornets don't appear interested in a two-team deal in which Rondo -- who has four years worth approximately $46 million left on his contract -- and Paul would switch places. So Ainge has been...

Rajon Rondo trade rumors begin again

The Boston Celtics are open to trading Rajon Rondo Back before the NBA Lockout began and turned off almost every non-diehard NBA fan in the World, the Boston Celtics were involved in rumors that could have sent All-Star point guard Rajon Rondo to many different places around the NBA. These seem to come up every NBA off-season because Rajon Rondo is the Boston Celtics only real trade...

Boston Celtics training camp 2011 will be held in Waltham

I interrupt your regularly scheduled (and wildly entertaining) trade rumors to bring you a Boston Celtics training camp 2011 update. (Boston Globe)With training camp just 10 days away for all NBA teams, the Celtics have apparently made a decision on where they will workout in preparation for the 2011-12 season. Rumor: Rajon Rondo and Chris Paul Trade

With the NBA back in business, trade rumors are flowing. One of the most interesting trade rumors is between the Boston Celtics and the New Orleans Hornets. The trade rumor has Rajon Rondo being traded in a package for Chris Paul. Chris Paul is obviously a much better player than Rajon Rondo, so why is this trade even a possibility? It’s simple: Chris Paul is a free agent this...

Rajon Rondo trade rumors: Is Dwight Howard part of the Boston Celtics’ Chris Paul plan?

The Boston Celtics are trying (rather aggressively, if you believe the rumors) to acquire Chris Paul. But I believe there must be something bigger at play, something bigger even than Chris Paul, even if that “something bigger” seems far-fetched and improbable and very much Dwight Howard. On the surface, trading Rajon Rondo for Chris Paul does not make sense. I certainly believe...
