Los Angeles Lakers coach Mike D'Antoni did not coach in Sunday night's game against Houston as originally plannned, deciding to delay for one game his debut with the team because he is not completely recovered by knee-replacement surgery. Lakers spokesman John Black told ESPNLosAngeles.com that a combination of pain, fatigue, lack of mobility and the medication D'Antoni is taking caused him to decide on Sunday afternoon to delay taking over the team. The Lakers next game is at home on Tuesday against the Brooklyn Nets, and D'Antoni told ESPNLA.com that his first game will be Tuesday's game or Wednesday's game against Sacramento. Bernie Bickerstaff will continue in his role as interim head coach until D'Antoni is ready to take the helm. "I'm a little disappointed, I wanted to be on the bench," D'Antoni told ESPNLA.com. He said Lakers trainer Gary Vitti convinced him to sit out another game.
