Dejounte Murray’s Immediate Message to Atlanta Hawks After Winning NBA Draft Lottery
David Banks-USA TODAY Sports

The Atlanta Hawks came out as the big winner of the recent NBA Draft Lottery with the franchise getting the number one overall pick. Turns out, All-Star guard Dejounte Murray is hyped about the win and is looking forward to how that pick will be used.

Just recently, the order in which teams will select in the upcoming 2024 NBA Draft was revealed and the Hawks took hold of the number one pick. Initially projected to land the 10th pick, Atlanta overcame the odds of their three percent chance to win the lottery.

This win marked the first time in the Hawks’ history where they obtained a top pick in a draft. At it stands, only the 1993 Orlando Magic, 2008 Chicago Bulls, 2011 and 2014 Cleveland Cavaliers had less than a three percent chance to land a draft’s number one selection.

Atlanta finished 10th in the Eastern Conference with a standing of 36 wins and 46 losses. Even though they didn’t possess the worst record in the NBA, the Hawks managed to beat this year’s set of underperforming teams, such as the Detroit Pistons, Washington Wizards, Portland Trail Blazers, San Antonio Spurs, and Charlotte Hornets, among others.

Dejounte Murray’s Crazy Reaction To Atlanta Hawks Getting the NBA Draft Lottery’s Top Pick

Atlanta’s recent win have led to countless reactions from fans, players, and analysts alike. One of those who gave their take is no other than Hawks star Dejounte Murray.

“NBA OFF SZN Bouts To Be Crazyyyyyy!!!! Lol,” Murray tweeted.

Murray has spent two years playing with the Hawks to no great success due to an ineffective fit with All-Star Trae Young. Both players have been constantly included in trade rumors during the past few months and there’s a chance that conversation will be opened up again, especially with the first pick in Atlanta’s possession.

The coming months will determine what Atlanta’s front office will do with the number one pick, along with the decision to move on from either Murray or Young. In any case, it’s going to be an interesting offseason for Hawks fans.
