DEERFIELD, Ill. — Injured Chicago Bulls superstar Derrick Rose is “not quite” ready to return from his knee injury, coach Tom Thibodeau said Friday.
The former MVP point guard continues to practice without restrictions, but his return from a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee remains up in the air.
“We’ll see when he’s ready,” Thibodeau said. “He’s getting there. He’s not quite there yet.”
ESPNChicago.com reported Friday that Rose’s doctor has cleared him to play, but he has told the team he won’t until he can dunk with confidence off his left foot. Thibodeau said a decision “hasn’t been finalized yet.”
Asked if Rose would be allowed to play if he felt he was able, Thibdodeau said, “We’ll cross that bridge when we get there. We’re just going day by day.” He was also noncommittal when asked if he expects Rose to play this season, saying the Bulls are prepared either way.
“Definitely getting stronger and stronger every day,” guard Nate Robinson said.

BULLS ON PARADE
Chicago Bulls point guard Derrick Rose's lengthy rehabilitation of his knee appears nearly complete as he reportedly has been cleared to play.
Amid Friday’s report that Derrick Rose is medically cleared to play, but not mentally ready, the Bulls front office insists that they are on the same page with their injured superstar and his continuous rehab. Something is not adding up, as it’s now being reported that a pressured Derrick Rose was a no-show at the Bulls practice Saturday.
According to Peter Vecsey:
The moment Bulls fans have been waiting for all year has finally arrived. Derrick Rose is cleared to play.
However, you will not see Rose play Friday night against Utah and probably not Sunday in Los Angeles. Maybe not on the Bulls' three-game West Coast swing. Really, do not count on Rose making his anticipated return to the floor any time in the immediate future.

Dear Chicago Bulls:
As a fan of the Chicago Bulls I would like nothing more than to see Derrick Rose come back onto the court this season, but I am terrified of what may happen. Derrick Rose is the key to the present and future of the franchise and the thought of him reinjuring himself is something I don’t think I could handle again. I remember that opening game of the playoffs...

Derrick Rose has been officially cleared to play by his doctor. That statement alone should have Chicagoans celebrating in the street, as many feel that the Bulls, with a healthy Rose of course, have the best chance of halting the Heat and heading to the NBA Finals out of the East.To their credit, Chicago has done a decent job of holding their own without the 2011 NBA MVP in their...

NBA fans will have to wait still for a Derrick Rose return. Seriously, I hate to tell you Chicago Bulls fans this, but the former league MVP might not be playing for awhile yet. Despite what you heard about his being cleared.

Derrick Rose's absence on Saturday likely was not excused, as Bulls management has put pressure on him to return from his torn ACL.
The Bulls remain confident Derrick Rose will return in mid-March.
In addition to Derrick Rose's season-long absence, the Chicago Bulls are dealing with several other key injuries.
They, however, know that's no excuse for their recent lackluster play.
Hoping to avoid its first three-game skid in four months, Chicago tries for a fifth straight win over a slumping Utah Jazz team that is hoping to have Al Jefferson back Friday night at the...
