Chicago Bulls Basketball – There has been a lot of speculation on the future about the Chicago Bulls lately, but one thing seems to be missing…Derrick Rose. It’s not too say that people aren’t mentioning his name within all the rumors/talks going around, but the excitement sure doesn’t seem to be there. Remember when Derrick Rose was drafted in 2008? He took Chicago by storm and gave great hope to the city, especially with that seven-game playoff series against the Celtics in his rookie season. Well this is that same man people, the Rookie of the Year, the former MVP, Poohdini, the South Side Chicago product. “With the first pick in the 2008 NBA Draft, the Chicago Bulls select Derrick Rose from the University of Memphis.” Derrick Rose is a loyal Chicagoan who no doubt wants to bring the City of Chicago a championship. He has the fire and talent to do so and that should not be lost in the midst of these unfortunate injuries. “We got to win. Win no matter what. Trip, kick somebody, fight, bite. Whatever. Win.” This isn’t someone who will abandon ship like LeBron James in search of an NBA championship, but rather a guy who will do what it takes for his team, his city, and that’s what Bulls fan need to remember. This is DRose, who when gets announced at every home game, gives us those same types of goosebumps we had for Michael Jordan. The Return of Derrick Rose I have no doubt there are exciting changes ahead for the Chicago Bulls and we should not only want DRose to be part of those plans, but be excited about him leading the way. The Bulls certainly do need to bring in another scorer or two to help shoulder the load and dare we say if Derrick gets hurt again, keep the season from being ‘lost’. But, let’s start with him while looking for the few missing pieces of that championship team (Kevin Love in 2015 would be nice). Only the Bulls front office knows what the next move for Chicago is and we have to wonder if that will happen this year or next. Injury Prone? Sure, some people are hesitant and quick to label DRose now as injury prone but things can change, and let’s hope they do. Maybe a summer with Adrian Peterson can help? Let’s chalk this up to a little bad luck and get ready for the return of the return. There was lots of hype going into the season and no reason why that can’t continue. Stranger things have happened and will he come back if the Bulls make the playoffs this season, who knows, but that would be awesome. If not and this season ends like last year with a second round exit or do the Bulls do make a bold move, all we can do is wait. One thing we should know is that Derrick Rose needs the city behind him because my gut feeling says he isn’t done leaving his mark on Chicago and I am not alone in thinking this.  Scottie Pippen was recently quoted saying, “That’s our belief as a team,” Pippen said, when asked if Rose could lead the team to a title during a press conference. “Derrick is a very hard working player, he ‘s very determined. He’s a serious player, and he wants to win. “There’s no doubt in our mind that Derrick Rose will win a championship as a Chicago Bull.” After a pause, possibly for dramatic effect, Pippen added that he may have to personally make sure his prediction comes true. “I might have to come back and help him,” the 48-year old said with a smile.
