Lost in the Los Angeles Clippers' come-from-behind victory against the Memphis Grizzlies in Game 1, Caron Butler fractured his hand thus leaving LA without one of their main weapons. In Game 2, the Clippers went with veteran Bobby Simmons but the Clips went on to lose the game as the series now shifts to Los Angeles.

Yet Butler is determined to play despite being told his injury will sideline him for four to six weeks.

"If there's a will, there's a way," regarding the possibility of his playing before the first-round series with Memphis is over.

Also, according to the report, Butler will see a hand specialist today to see how much damage he sustained but he is also doing everything to ensure a return to the court in this series versus the Grizzlies.

"I haven't done anything with a basketball yet, but I do know that I injured it early in the third quarter and I still was able to play and be effective," Butler said. "I just knew something was wrong and I knew something wasn't feeling right. I'll go see the specialist tomorrow and see what they come up with."

After tying the series in Game 2, and the Clips stealing homecourt advantage, I say stay the course Butler. Should LA win Game 3, and take the series lead, the Clips can afford to continue to rest him and allow his hand to heal.

There is no need to risk further injury to his hand simply because he has a yearning to come back out on the court. Again, think long-term versus short-term. Should LA advance to the semi-finals, they will more than likely face a strong San Antonio Spurs team and will need all hands on deck. Make that all healthy hands on deck.

Besides, in the end, Butler did fracture his hand and that is something one does not recover from in a matter of a few days.

Sounds like Caron is hoping for a miracle.
