So I know it took awhile, but finally…here it is. The end of my 3 part series, and as I always say, save the best for last. I’ll be profiling my favorite Piston this time, Tayshaun Prince.
Born just 7 days after yours truly, on February 28, 1980, Prince grew up in Compton, CA. He played college ball at Kentucky where he averaged 13.2 games. He was drafted in the first round of the 2002 NBA draft, 23rd overall by the Pistons. He wears the number 22 to signify the 22 teams that passed over him in the draft.
In 2003, prince wasn’t even part of the playing rotation. He only played 42 of the 82 games. However, in the 1st round of the 2003 NBA Finals, with the Pistons trailing Orlando 3 games to 1, Coach Rick Carlisle decided to experiment with the line up. He put Prince in, and he went on to set the NBA record for being the only player in league history to score more points in the playoffs than in the regular season (141-137).
