Dallas Mavericks superstar Dirk Nowitzki had some fun with a Sacramento Kings security guard during last Thursday's game at the Sleep Train Arena.
While the officials were busy sorting out a video review with 36.1 seconds left in regulation, Nowitzki was looking to make his way over to the monitor that the officials were looking at to "help out". However, a diligent security guard would not allow Nowitzki within five feet of them and shadowed Dirk as he paced back and forth.
As the review took a long time, the broadcasters complemented the security guard's "textbook defense" as he boxed out Nowitzki.
The Mavs got the benefit of the replay review and won the game in overtime 117-112.

Dirk Nowitzki had a great moment with a Sacramento Kings security guard last week. The officials for the Mavericks-Kings game were doing a video review of a play with 36.1 seconds remaining in the game. Dirk Nowitzki Tries to Get to Referees During Video Review, Can’t Get Around Security Guard (Video)
As both of the announcers in the below video point out, it’s probably the best defense anyone from Sacramento has played all year.
During Thursday’s 117-112 overtime win by the Dallas Mavericks over the Sacramento Kings, late in the fourth quarter the officials gathered up for a very common video review. Now, who knew that the NBA had a security guard stand in front of the refs...
Dirk Nowitzki goofs with Sacramento Kings security guard during video review
It’s a little late, but I’d be remiss if I didn’t show this light-hearted moment between Mavs forward Dirk Nowitzki and a Sacramento Kings security guard from this past Thursday’s Kings-Mavericks game (won by the Mavs 117-112 in OT). As Los That Sports Blog explains, Disco Dirk was trying to get a closer look at an official’s video review late in the fourth quarter, but...

DALLAS (AP) -- Mark Cuban says he plans to keep star Dirk Nowitzki even though the Dallas Mavericks have their worst record since a few months after he bought the team in 2000.
Cuban said before Saturday night's game against Memphis that he wanted to be clear with Nowitzki that he was committed "through thick and thin" to getting the team back in contention.

Mark Cuban to Dirk Nowitzki: I’m not trading you, you’re going through this s*** with me
The Dallas Mavericks are off to a rough 15-23 start to the season, and at the moment they look like a team that could be destined for the playoff bubble. Two years removed from an NBA championship, Dallas has lost some key players like Jason Kidd and Jason Terry and is dealing with an aging and oft-injured Dirk Nowitzki.
Some feel that the logical thing for Mark Cuban to do would...
Questions Abound Despite Recent Success in Dallas
Dirk Nowitzki wants to be a Dallas Maverick forever, but also doesn’t want to be chasing a low playoff seed every year either.
The figurative (possibly literal) Bank of Mark Cuban is open, but he doesn’t want to take on bad salary or deviate too far from the flexibility Dallas has built either.
