It would be tough to argue that the new flopping rule the NBA has put into place for the upcoming season won’t benefit the game in some way. Any type of fine is going to discourage players from doing something on some level, so it certainly can’t make the situation any worse. Flopping has become a league-wide epidemic, and those who are found guilty of it from now on will be fined up to $30,000. Dirk Nowtizki does not think this will work. “I never looked at myself as a big flopper,” Nowitzki said Thursday according to the Dallas Morning News. “If you play me physical then, obviously, I’ve got to sell the call and get to the (free throw) line. That’s just part of the game. We’ll have to see how they enforce that. “I think it’s a bunch of crap to be honest with you. Are they going to come back after a game and fine you for flopping? That’s tough to do to me.” Yes, that’s exactly what they’re going to do. They do it with upgrading or downgrading flagrant fouls, so flopping will be no

Dirk Nowitzki catches Rick Carlisle sleeping in hilarious picture

Got heeem! The Mavericks arrived in Germany on Thursday for a few days of fun before their exhibition game on Saturday, and some members of the team were more affected by the long day of traveling than others. Germany native Dirk Nowitzki was able to catch coach Rick Carlisle sleeping on the bus with his mouth wide open, and he shared the picture on Twitter. I’m not sure how this...

Mavericks win exhibition game in Germany 89-84

Dirk Nowitzki scored only eight points in his return to Germany and the Dallas Mavericks overcame 27 turnovers to beat Alba Berlin 89-84 Saturday night. Chris Kaman, Darren Collison and Vince Carter each scored 14 points to lead the Mavericks. Deon Thompson scored 20 points to lead the eight-time German champions, who led 23-21 after the first quarter. The Mavericks' next...

West ready for first full season with Mavs

DALLAS-- No matter how he might have been viewed before joining the Dallas Mavericks prior to last season, Delonte West was a great addition to Rick Carlisle's roster last year. Of course, his truly gruesome finger injury limited him to just 44 games but when he was healthy and on the floor, as Carlisle put it after practice on Wednesday, West had an impact in every phase of...

Dirk Nowitzki is not a fan of the new NBA anti-flopping rules

I am not sure how the NBA plans on enforcing the rules and fines they have put in place to rid itself of players flopping, but I applaud David Stern and the league for moving forward with the sweeping changes. Obviously, there are players who are not happy about this, such as Dallas Mavericks forward, [...]

Video: Mark Cuban + Booze + Gangham Dance Style = Awesome

Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban is quite the character. During his early years as an NBA owner he voiced his displeasure of refs, amassed many fine because of it, splurges on his players and likes to party. Case in point, this video of Cuban (h/t DieHardSport.com) with bottle of beer in hand, young woman trying to rap to him, and him trying his hand at the new dance craze...

Nowitzki, Duncan prove loyalty is not dead

Two 7-point pillars, in every sense of the word, reside at the opposite ends of Texas. One anchors the south, while the other takes up shop north. Their differences are as stark as San Antonio and Dallas. Neither city is confused with the other. Just ask the residents. But for all that's different in the two towns either real or imagined remember both are in the Lone Star...

Are You Ready For Some Basketball?

Dallas Mavericks basketball, that is. I am so ready for basketball to start and to be able to see the new Mavericks lineup and roster they have designed. I know, a lot of people are cringing at the thought of the Mavs hitting the court without their floor general Jason Kidd and the ever present Jason “the Jet” Terry to arouse the crowd, but I am kind of excited to see what the...

Raptors Day Video: Vince Carter's greatest dunks

There has not been many great moments in Raptors' history. They have seen Chris Bosh leave for South Beach, rarely seen the post season, and even had Kobe Bryant drop 81 points on them. However, during their time in the NBA, for a while they had the most electrifying dunker in this recent era of the NBA -- Vince Carter. "Air Canada" provided fans to pack arenas...

The #NBA Is Tweeting, Featuring Delonte West

In this edition of The #NBA Is Tweeting, Andray Blatche experiences traffic in New York, Dominique Jones plays golf, Quincy Acy goes to Wal Mart, and Delonte West discovers Berlin.  Also, Wilson Chandler isn’t feeling your sense of entitlement, JR Smith refuses to smell your socks, and Nick Young is the pot that called the kettle black… Andray Blatche ‏(@drayblatche): Is...

Dirk And Blake Bash The New Flopping Rules

“I think it’s a bunch of crap to be honest with you. Are they going to come back after a game and fine you for flopping? That’s tough to do to me.’’                – Dirk Nowitzki “It’s not going to win or lose games for anybody. It’s a good way for the NBA to get more money. I guess it’s good in a sense that it stops any of it from happening...

Nets Day Video: The Great Drazen Petrovic

Long before there was Manu Ginobili, Dirk Nowitzki, Tony Parker, Pau Gasol there was Drazen Petrovic. Petrovic was the first big-time foreign star in the NBA and proved that the game did not just belong in America. Drazen was a deadly outside shooter with a killer instinct. He dropped points like no other and there was no shot he would not pass up. However, the thing was....
