Pass The Pill:
Doc Rivers called out his Clippers team The Los Angeles Clippers are off to a 13-8 start which isn’t bad, but coach Doc Rivers has noticed a trend with his team that he doesn’t like. Rivers feels that his team often times pouts when things don’t go their way. Last night was a perfect example as the Clippers lost to the Cleveland Cavaliers 88-82, in which Rivers noticed his team doing too much pouting. This prompted Rivers to call his team out for not only pouting but saying his Clippers are not where they need to be “maturity-wise.” Via ESPN LA: “We did a lot of pouting in the game,” Rivers said Saturday. “You can’t play that way. You have to keep playing. I always call them emotional hijacks, and we had a lot of that going on. That happens, but you have to be able to pull yourself out of it individually or as a group, and I don’t think we did a good job of that.” “When we become a good team, if we become a good team, it will be because we miss 30 shots in a row and you wouldn’t know it,” Rivers said. “We just keep playing. You get some bad calls on you and you just keep playing. Right now we’re not at that point maturity-wise. When we go bad, we start thinking bad. That’s an area we have to grow in. …You can preach it but it’s a habit and you have to get over it. There’s been times where we’ve fought it and did good job, and this is one of those nights where we didn’t.” This isn’t the first time the Clippers have been called out for their immaturity. They have become a punch-line for many NBA analysts who have questioned their softness as well. Maybe this will be a wake up call for the Clippers having their own coach question them. Doc Rivers is right in that the Clippers need to improve their maturity and mental toughness if they are going to become a very good team. The Clippers play next Wednesday against the Philadelphia 76ers. The post Doc Rivers calls out his Clippers team appeared first on Pass The Pill - Kings of Hoops.

Life is full of obstacles and transition, but former head coach of the Boston Celtics, Doc Rivers, does not follow the transition part of that statement. In an article by the great Jackie MacMullan, Rivers speaks with the longtime sports journalist about his return and how the...
Los Angeles Clippers center DeAndre Jordan had a wardrobe malfunction of sorts during Monday night's game in Philadelphia when the "Los Angeles" lettering on the front of his jersey came right off.It happened in the first minute of the game as Sixers guard Tony Wroten grabbed Jordan's jersey while positioning for a rebound underneath the basket. Apparently that...
Doc Rivers returns to Boston for the first time Wednesday night after his somewhat acrimonious parting of ways with the Celtic organization at the end of last season. According to Mark Murphy at BostonHearald.com Rivers believes he will be accepted by the fans in Beantown but the media is another story: Rivers still rejects the idea his reception will be mixed — that he will be...

After saying earlier Monday that the Clippers werent going to sign anybody today or probably even tomorrow, Coach Doc Rivers said later that the team was close to a deal with free-agent swingman Stephen Jackson.
Jackson is expected to join the Clippers in Boston on Tuesday to sign a contract and for a physical.
I just think hes a veteran, Rivers said. We need him in a pinch and...
As previously noted here on That NBA Lottery Pick, we are fans of the Clippers “Lob City” and early on against the Cleveland Cavaliers, we saw a pretty nasty one.
After a made bucket by Cleveland’s Andrew Bynum, the Clippers got the ball inbounds quickly and star guard Chris Paul found teammate DeAndre Jordan with an alley-oop from beyond half court:

He watches over them like a father whose children have scattered to various corners of the country, no longer in his charge yet still firmly implanted in his psyche.
"I was watching the Nets the other night and Kevin (Garnett) collided with someone and fell,'' Doc Rivers reported. "My heart kind of skipped a beat. I was thinking, 'Oh no. Is he hurt?' Before...
Just when you thought you could avoid a week here on That NBA Lottery Pick without a Blake Griffin post, it finally decides to show up.
In the fourth quarter of tonight’s Cavaliers/Clippers game, Griffin got into a tussle with Cavaliers center Anderson Varejao after Andy delivered a shot to Blake’s face.
In response, Blake pushes Andy to the ground (who kinda flops on the push...
