PLAYERS: Tim Duncan
TEAMS: San Antonio Spurs
Tim Duncan didn't re-sign for three more years just to start over. In fact, the San Antonio Spurs are back with nearly the entire roster that dominated the NBA for most of last season. But the NBA's winningest team the past two seasons knows something has to change. Otherwise. the Spurs risk staying stuck as a perennial contender that's been beyond the reach of another championship for five seasons and counting. San Antonio rolled into the playoffs last year on a 20-game winning streak. But after taking a 2-0 lead over Oklahoma City in the Western Conference finals, the Spurs unraveled in spectacular fashion and lost the next four. The rematch is Nov. 1 in San Antonio's home opener.

Video: Spurs' De Colo shows off impressive dribbling skills

San Antonio Spurs' Nando De Colo can pass, hit the clutch shot, run an offense and can really handle the ball. And "handle the ball" I mean De Colo's has an insanely, sick handle! Tale of two guards: Joseph, De Colo in spirited preseason competition

The San Antonio Spurs currently have five players on their roster that can play point guard. When they decided to bring over 2009 draft prospect Nando De Colo, it left many fans wondering where De Colo would fit in with the stockpile of guards, especially those that could play at point. Gary Neal seems like the odds-on favorite to win the backup spot to Tony Parker while Patty...

Ginobili: Spurs must improve defense to remain among the best

During the San Antonio Spurs championship reign, the franchise captured four NBA titles predicated on stellar defense. The Spurs would defy any team from scoring and their defense was the epitome of the saying, "Offense wins games but defense wins championships." However, that was then, this is now. The Spurs haven't won a title since 2007 and it coincides with...

While the San Antonio Spurs and coach Gregg Popovich didn't get a chance to see NBA Finals MVP LeBron James in their preseason visit to Miami on Saturday, Popovich knows enough of James to see that the all-star forward is improving after winning his first championship. Manu on new-look Lakers, fears & more

In a recent mailbag with NBA.com, San Antonio Spurs' Manu Ginobili opened up about pretty much everything. He talked about anything from food and music to his NBA career and how he stays in top shape at his age. I love reading these mailbags because, most of the time, fans ask better questions than reporters. The questions aren’t focused on what Manu was thinking when...
