At the age of 36, San Antonio Spurs forward Tim Duncan can no longer reach the heights consistently that he could five years ago; however as he demonstrated to the Los Angeles Clippers Tuesday night at the AT&T Center, he is still capable of dominating a game in the Association. The former NBA MVP looked like he was in his prime as he notched  a double-double, knocking down a game high 26 points and grabbing 10 rebounds as the Spurs defeated the Clippers 108-92 to open up their Western Conference semi-final match-up. Manu Ginobili added 22 points for the home team as they took over the contest during the second and the third periods. Eric Bledsoe came off the bench for the visitors and put up a team high 23 points in the loss. Blake Griffin, whose status was unknown before game-time due to a sore knee put up 15 points as did Caron Butler. Chris Paul however, suffering from a strained hip-flexor got ten assists in the game, but only scored six points for the night. The two oppon...

Tim Duncan still miffed at not sweeping Knicks in '99 NBA Finals

The San Antonio Spurs are set to face the Los Angeles Clippers in the second-round of the NBA playoffs as they continue their march towards what will hopefully be title number five for the franchise. But if San Antonio does claim a fifth title, one cannot forget this string of NBA crowns began in 1999 versus the New York Knicks in the NBA Finals. In that series, the Spurs won in...

Duncan shows Griffin he's still No. 1 four-man

SAN ANTONIO It looked reckless, this shot Tim Duncan took. It looked awkward and flailing. It looked like he was hoping for a bailout call. It looked like it had no chance. It looked a lot like something Blake Griffin would do, actually. Except Duncan made it. Duncan's sloppy falling layupy thing came with about six minutes left in the San Antonio Spurs' 108-92 win...

Playing for the sixth time in 11 days, Los Angeles gave San Antonio its toughest first half of the playoffs before fading fast. And...

Tim Duncan really doesn't like Kevin Garnett

They are the two premier forwards in the NBA of this generation -- San Antonio Spurs' Tim Duncan and Boston Celtics' Kevin Garnett. Both have won NBA titles, been selected to countless All-Star games, collected many individual awards and had their fair share of battles on the court. Perhaps the biggest on-the-court battle between TD and KG happened when Garnett was playing...

Scouting game two: If Spurs limit turnovers, are Clippers in big trouble?

“They’re going to come much harder next game,” said Tim Duncan of the San Antonio Spurs after his team defeated the Los Angeles Clippers on Tuesday to take a 1-0 Semi Finals series lead. The Spurs didn’t play their best offensive game with 18 turnovers, but after a rough first quarter, they played sound defense against the explosive Clippers for an 18-point win. The Clippers...

Duncan, Ginobili lead Spurs to Game 1 win over Clippers

Before tonight's game, much was made of the San Antonio Spurs' rest as they waited eight days to see who they'd play in the second round of the playoffs. The rest vs. rust debate was put to sleep early. If there was any rust, the Spurs shook it off very quickly on their way to a 108-92 Game 1 victory. “It was hard to start. We were a little sluggish at the beginning...

Spurs 105, Clippers 88

Tony Parker scored 22 points on his 30th birthday, Tim Duncan had 18 and the San Antonio Spurs beat the fading Los Angeles Clippers 105-88 on Thursday night, pushing their winning streak to 16 and taking a 2-0 lead in their Western Conference semifinal series. Chris Paul responded to his awful Game 1 with only a slightly better encore, scoring 10 points as the Clippers now head...

NBA Playoffs: San Antonio Spurs vs Los Angeles Clippers Preview and Prediction

The Spurs and Clippers both had different routes to the second round, as the Spurs easily dispatched the Jazz in four games while the Clippers were taken to seven games by the Grizzlies. The Spurs have been off for over a week, while the Clippers won their series on Sunday. Long periods of rest for a team are often considered to be bad, as a team can be rusty when they come back...
