Dirk Nowitzki has set the mold for big guys that can shoot from the outside. He’s going to go into the Hall of Fame as one of the greatest shooters of all time, and he’s 7 feet tall. Last year he took over during the NBA Finals and this year he has to pass off the torch to another tall guy who can light it up from the outside. Kevin Durant isn’t quite a 7-footer, unless you’re looking at his freakishly long wingspan, and he has more athleticism and more of a guard’s skill set than Nowitzki, but he still belongs in the category of “super tall guys who can shoot.” Dirk himself has had to acknowledge the talent that Durant brings to the table. "KD is way ahead of my curve,” Nowitzki said. “He's arguably the best player in the league right now. I see a guy that really has no holes." If Durant keeps playing the way he has been, especially head-to-head against LeBron James, we may be able to remove the “arguably” from Dirk’s comment. Even though KD missed out on the season MVP

Footage of a 17 year old Baby Faced Durant right before he went to Texas

At 23 years old Oklahoma Thunder’s Kevin Durant still has a baby face so in this video of him when he was 17 he looks like an infant! Anyway, someone on the innerwebs dug up this video of Kevin at Seat Pleasant Recreational Center in MD. In the video, you can already see Kevin showing signs of that accessible and cautiously candid personality we in the media and blogophere are...

Durant Takes Over In Fourth Quarter As Thunder Top Heat 105-94

The Oklahoma City Thunder did not look sharp coming out of the gate in game one of the NBA Finals, as they hosted the Miami Heat Tuesday night at Chesapeake Energy Arena, as they seemed ill at ease during the first quarter of the club’s first trip to the Association’s Championship round, allowing their visitors to jump on top by seven points at the conclusion of the quarter...

Game 1 of The NBA Finals brings back deja vu

Well, game one of the 2012 NBA Finals is in the book and the story brings back lots of memories. Unstoppable tonight. Look familiar? (Reuters) Of playoffs past. Of LeBron James. But I'm not talking about the false narrative (that I've never floated here) that he chokes in crunch time or can't ever win a championship. (Although I'll most likely go to my grave rooting...

Starting 5: OKC comes back vs. Miami's fizzle

Every morning, we'll give you five things from the night before in the NBA to start your day. 1:  OKC's big comeback You wouldn't see a re-incarnted Sun Tzu penning basketball strategies that include being down 13 at any point in an NBA Finals game, but the Thunder never quite seemed uncomfortable with their deficits in Game 1.  Like a battering ram taking a few...

Oklahoma City set to become regular NBA June stop

Oklahoma City was once just a temporary stop for the NBA. Needing a home after being displaced by Hurricane Katrina, the New Orleans Hornets came to play in a city that was desperate for a major sports franchise of its own. The Hornets eventually went back home, but now Kevin Durant and the rest of the young Thunder might make Oklahoma City an annual summer destination. With a...

In Cleveland, it's another year of living vicariously

For Cavaliers fans, the strange bedfellowing of last year's NBA Finals continues this summer, just with a different potential paramour. The question is, what kind of relationship can we really have when our newest crush barely knows we exist? Last season's wooing of the Dallas Mavericks was all hand-holding and restaurant desserts, admittedly. The wounds ...

NBA finals style wars: Kevin Durant & Russell Westbrook vs. LeBron James & Dwyane Wade

Game 1 off the NBA finals went to the Thunder. But what about the OTHER battle, the fashion one? Russell Westbrook wore a shirt from the 2012 Prada spring collection and of course, personality frames. KD opted for a slim cut suit in black. King James opted for a color mash featuring a berry shirt, [...]

NBA Finals Preview – Thunder vs. Heat

It’s the finals every body wanted. LeBron James versus anti-LeBron James, aka Kevin Durant. The makeup of both the Oklahoma City Thunder and Miami Heat could not be any more different. Miami built their big-3 through free agency in the summer of 2010. James and Chris Bosh upped with Dwyane Wade, which of course prompted this.  Meanwhile, just days after...

Game 2

Game 2 of the NBA Finals in Oklahoma, with the Heat and the Thunder, is set to Tip-Off at 8 PM Eastern time. Kevin Durant Dominated in game one and just took over. Can LeBron dominate today and get the win on the road? There are many factors that will contribute to tonight's game in order for the Heat not to go down 2-0 in the series. Dwayne Wade needs to have a better game than...

Thunder Now Believe They Can Win NBA Finals

Those who witnessed game one of the NBA Finals on Tuesday night, watched as a team evolved and matured before their eyes, from a squad that played tentatively during the first 12 minutes of action, to a team that dominated both ends of the court during the final period, leading to their winning the contest. Perhaps, the Oklahoma City Thunder were a bit overcome with the size of...

NBA Finals: My NBA Finals Christmas List

With the NBA Finals tipping-off in a little over seven hours, I have made a list of 10 things that I am hoping to see from the Finals this year. I know making a list sounds silly and I probably won’t get half of what I put on my list (happens to me every Christmas). But here is a short story: Two years ago, I made a Christmas list of 10 things, roughly, that I wanted. Some of...
