If you been watching any of the postgame press conference during these NBA playoffs, chances are you have seen a particular fashion statement being made by various players -- the geek look. You know, shirts buttoned up to the top, thick rimmed eye-glasses, suspenders, and much more. You might swear Steve Urkle of Family Matters was taking questions from the media. There is no doubt, the "geek-look" is here to stay and the poster child of this has to be Oklahoma City Thunder's Kevin Durant. It's quite often KD will rock the eye-glasses, wear bow-ties, and have a school boy's backpack during a press conference. And it is because of this look, Durant was voted the nerdiest in the NBA by Time Magazine. Writer Sean Gregory applauded Durant's geek-chic wardrobe (backpack, horn-rimmed glasses, plaid shirt buttoned to the collar) as being a trendsetter. Teammate Russell Westbrook has picked up the look as well as LeBron James, Dwight Howard, Amar'e Stoudemire,...

Out with the Old, In with the New: Hello Durant!

About a week ago, I asked the NBA community to describe Kevin Durant in one word, and this is what I got:- "Lanky" (can't argue with that)- "Smooth" (like a smooth operator)- "Non-smilish" (he's got a lot to smile about at the moment)- "Greasedlightning" (tell me more, tell me more)- "Unacceptable" (unacceptably impossible...

Durant hits game winning three against the Lakers

Kevin Durant is making clutch shot after clutch shot in these 2012 playoffs. Last night was no different as Durant’s last second three gave the Thunder the win. Durant is making his case that he is the best player NBA . With the game tied at 98 Durant intercepted a bad pass from Pau Gasol. Then it was time for Durant to do his thing on the offensive end. Durant...

Durant’s no LeBron….Thank God!

Oklahoma City forward Kevin Durant has made a habit of taking - and making - clutch, late-game shots in his short NBA career.I don’t k now how else to say it, but every time I watch the Oklahoma City Thunder superstar Kevin Durant – and compare him to Miami Heat league MVP LeBron James – I simply marvel at the major difference in the mentality of each player. That’s right...

Sunday Morning Links, Featuring Kevin Durant

Youtube: Whether he and his Thunder (how stupid did that sound?  No more singular team names, please) trail by one, two, or three (or even if the game is tied, as it was in this case) Kevin Durant’s preferred method of being an icy-cold motherf@cker is the three-point shot.  Mysteriously, Ron Artest failed to stay within arm’s length.  Durant didn’t really even have to...

The NBA’s new alpha dog Kevin Durant is cold-blooded (Rick James style)

Kevin Durant of the Oklahoma City Thunder is announcing his arrival as the new Alpha Dog of the NBA. He choked out the defending champion Dallas Mavericks in the first round with late game heroics, and now he has his foot on the head of The Black Mamba. Dude is getting it done, and he’s doing it with a point guard that doesn’t pass. That’s gangster (OKC style). Kevin Durant...

Thunder Alley forced to change after shooting on Monday

Chesapeake Energy Arena in downtown Oklahoma City has been living up to that Energy portion of its name all year long. Thunder fans have that place rocking through television screens all over the country, and have done so ever since OKC first entered the playoffs a couple years ago. With Kevin Durant's first trip to the Western Conference Finals set to commence, it's only...

Kevin Durant drops a hammer on the Los Angeles Lakers. Thunder win 103-100

LOS ANGELES –The Lakers bench players either shook their heads in disbelief, let their jaws drop or tried to bury themselves in the palms on their hands as the Oklahoma City Thunder’s Kevin Durant drained a fatal 3-point blow to seal Game 4. Apparently Hipster Clothing IS Allowed Under the NBA Dress Code

With all the creativity that these NBA fellows have been putting into their wardrobes I wondered how much of this is allowed under the dress code. Well, you will be happy to know that…ALL OF IT is. The NBA dress code isn’t nearly as strict as I remember. Here’s a little refresher: Oklahoma Thunder's Kevin Durant (right) and Russell Westbrook (left) are fashion risk takers...

Thunder surge past Lakers 106-90 to win West semis

Russell Westbrook scored 28 points, Kevin Durant added 25 points and 10 rebounds, and the Oklahoma City Thunder surged ahead in the second half to beat Los Angeles 106-90 in Game 5 on Monday night and eliminate the Lakers from the playoffs. The two All-Stars both bypassed their breaks in the second half and used the time they'd normally be resting to fuel the big run that put...

No games to be viewed outside OKC’s arena, anymore

Monday night was a great night for the Oklahoma City Thunder organization. They took another step in the right direction, beating the Los Angeles Lakers 4-1 in the Western Conference Semifinals to advance to the WCF. But I am not writing about Kevin Durant or Russell Westbrook or how well the Thunder played against the Lakers. I am writing about the aftermath of the Thunder’s...

Thunder surge past Lakers to win West semis

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- Russell Westbrook scored 28 points, Kevin Durant added 25 points and 10 rebounds, and the Oklahoma City Thunder surged ahead in the second half to beat Los Angeles 106-90 in Game 5 on Monday night and eliminate the Lakers from the playoffs. Kobe, Lakers pointing fingers facing elimination

Two of the Lakers' three losses in their Western Conference Semifinals series against the Thunder have come down to key turnovers at inopportune times. The latest was an interesting cross-court pass from Pau Gasol that Kevin Durant intercepted, setting up his go-ahead 3-pointer that proved to be the difference in teh fourth quarter. Gasol, a typically skilled passer, made that...

Thunder shows its determination

The Thunder could have looked at Saturday's 13-point deficit with eight minutes left and mentally checked out. A loss to the Los Angeles Lakers in Game 4 wouldn't have been the end of the world. After all, Oklahoma City would have headed home with the series tied 2-2 knowing that it could advance without having to win a game at Staples Center. But the Thunder didn't...
