The Los Angeles Lakers dropped their fourth game of five Sunday, a 112-105 loss to the Denver Nuggets at the Staples Center. During the game center Dwight Howard aggravated his sprained rotator cuff in his right shoulder. He will have an MRI Monday morning, according to ESPN.
"I would like to play but I just want to make sure that my shoulder is good to go," Howard said after the game. "I don't want to injure myself to where I'm out for the season, so, I just got to go and see what happens at the MRI."
Howard grabbed 26 rebounds, tying a career high, and add 14 points and four blocks in 41 minutes despite being injured.
Howard first hurt the shoulder in the second half of the Lakers' 107-102 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers on Friday.
"It wasn't as bad as last game, but like I said, I don't want to injure it to the point where I can't play," Howard said.
The Lakers play back-to-back road games on Tuesday against the Houston Rockets and San Antonio Spurs.
NOTE: Pau Gasol did not break his nose after taking an inadvertent elbow to the face from JaVale McGee. He will be available to play in Houston.
"I got hit," Gasol said. "I didn't see the replay, but it was not intentional. So, that's a good thing."
