What once seemed like the longest of shots, Dwight Howard teaming up with Steph Curry to lead a Warriors pursuit of an NBA Championship, now looks like it has a much better shot of becoming a reality.
Rumors began to circulate earlier this week that the Warriors were engaging teams in trade talks for All Star forward David Lee. While Golden State did not find a taker, at least not yet, the move signaled a desire to start moving some salary off the books to create some flexibility to maneuver in free agency.
Was the move solely to land Dwight Howard? No, it could also free them up for other big men if Howard spurns there efforts and either resigns with the Lakers or heads to either the Dallas Mavericks or Houston Rockets. Denver’s Andre Iguodala is another target the Warriors could pursue.
