The Los Angeles Lakers fell to to the Miami Heat on Sunday in South Beach by a score of 107-97. The Lakers hung tough for the majority of the game, but were simply out-classed by the defending NBA champions down the stretch. LeBron James and Dwyane Wade combined for 38 points (20 for LeBron and 18 for Wade) in the second half. Dwyane Wade took advantage of poor transition defense by the Lakers, and namely Dwight Howard, in the 3rd quarter and finished off with a powerful, one-handed, reverse slam that go the crowd on their feet and pushed the Heat lead to 67-64 over the visiting opponents. Those were just two of Wade’s 30 points, as he went an efficient 12 of 18 from the field (55%). The Heat asserted their dominance by getting out and running against the older, slower Lakers, notching 19 fast break points, compared to just 4 from Los Angeles. Miami also made the most of their free throw attempts, cashing in for 13-14 from the line for 92%, and the Miami Heat just keep on being one of the moist efficient teams on the planet, behind LeBron James and Dwyane Wade. Kobe Bryant led the way for the Lakers with 28 points, 6 rebounds, and much the the shock of LeBron James, 9 assists.
