Evan Turner made his Indiana Pacers debut in tremendous fashion, contributing 13 points on 6-of-12 shooting, six rebounds and two assists in 26 minutes of action. Head coach Frank Vogel spoke to NBA reporters about Turner’s impact: He knows how to make the right basketball play. He’s not out there forcing action. The man with the basketball attacks to score until help comes, then we share it. It’s a pretty simple offensive concept and he’s pretty good at that one concept. Although the Pacers have improved, the void of three-point shooter or spot-up jump shooter with Danny Granger was well missed deep in the postseason. With Turner’s ability to shoot the midrange jumper as well and create his own shot off the dribble, he could be the replacement Indiana needed. When Turner is finding the bottom of the net, he can be extremely deadly on any given night, serving as the ideal spark off the bench. If he continues to perform at a high level like Tuesday night, the Pacers’ second unite will be a force. Evan Turner and Lance Stephenson are similar players, so how they’ll ultimately fit together is the question. Coach Frank Vogel says that’s no reason for concern: “We’ve got two guys out there that can really make basketball plays. “It smoothes out a lot of the offensive kinks that we’ve been having.
