PLAYERS: LeBron James
TEAMS: Miami Heat
LeBron James has refused to participate in the dunk contest time and time again, even recently ruling it out saying, “No…It’s over with. I’m getting too old for that.”  However, LeBron did say last February that he would reconsider participating if there was a $1 million prize – and it looks like somebody’s taking him up on the offer. According to Sam Laird, Mashable: NBA fan Chris Thomas is aiming to make LeBron James reconsider with a crowdfunding campaign to accumulate $1 million in pledges to the LeBron James Family Foundation, thereby enticing James to bless fans the world over with his prodigious dunking talent. Traction has been slow since launching the campaign two weeks ago, however, and Thomas says the site has so far sparked far more pageviews than donations, which currently total just under $2,500. “We’ll raise as much as possible, whether that’s $50,000, $500,000 or $5 million,” he says. “Whatever aggregate amount is raised, I’ll contact the foundation and anyone else associated with LeBron, say ‘take or leave it’ and see what happens.” H/T Royce Young, CBS Sports

LeBron James: Nets were not playing hard for Avery Johnson

On the surface, it would appear that firing Avery Johnson was exactly what the Brooklyn Nets needed. The former coach was let go at the end of December, and the team has gone 13-4 since interim head coach PJ Carlesimo took over. However, LeBron James feels that the improvement has more to do with effort than it does coaching style. “They’re playing like they want to play for...

It's always a bummer when a sports fan has to miss a great game to go to work instead. LeBron thinks Sunday's game against the Raptors is 'disgusting'

It might have been all hugs and laughs for LeBron James when he celebrated with a fan —who hit a halfcourt hook shot to win a cash prize — by rolling on the court floor with the guy the other day but, yesterday, the Miami Heat star sounded like he just wants to roll over the NBA schedule makers. Upset after he found out the Heat will play 2 p.m. on Sunday in Toronto and —...

Reggie Evans Has Some (Dumb) Thoughts On LeBron James, Miami Heat

Brooklyn Nets forward and flopper/cheap shot artist extraordinaire Reggie Evans may be a great rebounder, but he’s also one of the NBA’s most annoying players. Therefore, it should come as no surprise that he’d say something dumb about LeBron James and the defending champion Miami Heat, who will make their Barclay’s Center debut Wednesday night: “It doesn’t prove nothing...

LeBron James on Reggie Evans: “We Did Our Number on Him”

Earlier today, Brooklyn Nets flopmaster Reggie Evans decided it was a good idea to take a sharp stick and poke a tiger when he said that the Miami Heat championship wasn’t legit because it occurred during a lockout shortened season. His statements were absurd, but it did get the attention of LeBron James, who after the 105-85 victory said “No one knows what it takes until you’ve...

Kyrie as the franchise guy

Youre starting an NBA franchise from scratch and you own the third pick. Who do you take? Heat start LeBron James has been chosen No. 1. That makes sense. Hes a three-time league MVP and the games best player. Thunder forward Kevin Durant goes second. Hes the second-best player, a scoring machine and still only 24 years old. So, who do you take? Cavaliers guard Kyrie Irving,...

Nets no challenge for Heat in East

If there's a case to be made that there's a contender for the Eastern Conference crown other than the Miami Heat, no one has stepped up and made it just yet. But after another Heat demolition of the Nets, this time a 105-85 pounding Wednesday night, it's obvious that Brooklyn no longer has any business engaging in that debate. In their first and only visit to Barclays...
