1. Something that seems true (and totally is): The Rockets are taking a gamble they cant lose.
You get one amnesty exception for the 10-year duration of the collective bargaining agreement signed last year. It basically allows you to waive a player before his contract is up and keep paying him without his salary counting against the salary cap. The Rockets used that one exception this week on Luis Scola.
Houston is selling out for Dwight Howard, and the only reason you do that is if you (think you) know you can lock him down.
Now, the Rockets might have good information about that, although Id argue that good information about Howards intentions probably doesnt even exist. Nobody knows what Howard wants, least of all Howard.
