If I ran every NBA team, here are five deals that would go down before Thursday afternoons trading deadline:
1. Atlanta PF Josh Smith to San Antonio for PFC DeJuan Blair, SF Stephen Jackson and a first-round pick.
Smith is headed somewhere, that much is fairly certain. Yes, he can be difficult, playing the role of the occasional knucklehead who is somewhat of a risk when the idea is team chemistry.
Talent-wise, however, there are no doubts. When focused, the guy is a borderline All-Star. When not, Smith is still pretty doggone good.
Lots of folks doubt the Spurs, who exited the All-Star break with the leagues best record, can maintain their current pace. Lots of folks feel that way for good reason. After all, the Spurs have crumpled in the playoffs every season since their last title in 2007.
Well, guess what? Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobili and even Tony Parker aint getting any younger. Smith would give the Spurs a talented pair of fresh legs, additional frontcourt scoring and rebo...

The Milwaukee Bucks are one of the top contenders to land Atlanta Hawks forward Josh Smith, and lucky for them, it seems Smith is interested in them as well. The concern for any team that trades for Smith is that his contract is up after this season. So the team who gets him will either need to work out a new deal or just use him for half a season.According to Ken Berger of...
The Atlanta Hawks, who are expected to deal forward Josh Smith before Thursday’s trade deadline, reportedly offered the Philadelphia Sixers the 8-year veteran in exchange for swingman and former second overall pick, Evan Turner (13.8 ppg, 6.6 rpg, 4.4 apg), and center, Spencer Hawes (10.2 ppg, 6.4 rpg, 1.3 blkpg).

Everyone NBA fan knows that the Atlanta Hawks are going to trade Josh Smith, so here are some possible trades for the star-caliber, but hot-headed forward.
* The Brooklyn Nets, Houston Rockets Golden State Warriors and Dallas Mavericks have all been said to be interested, but they simply do not have the pieces to make a deal without a third team being involved in the trade(Mavericks...
The Atlanta Hawks are motivated to move Josh Smith. The nine-year veteran has been a productive player in his career, and he has remained relatively healthy throughout. Yet, it makes financial sense for the Hawks to move forward without him if they can get the right return. And it seems they will have plenty of teams they can partner with.According to Ken Berger of CBS Sports...
The Atlanta Hawks seem to be willing to pull the trigger on a Josh Smith trade before Thursday's deadline, ESPN's Marc Stein reports.
Stein writes that the "Hawks have convinced numerous teams that they're definitely trading" Smith. The thinking is that the Hawks have to trade Smith now, or they will definitely lose him for nothing in free agency. So where...
Scratch the Phoenix Suns off the list of teams in the Josh Smith derby.
ESPN is reporting that the Suns are "unlikely" to be able to pry J-Smoove from the Atlanta Hawks. That leaves Milwaukee (possibly moving Monta Ellis), Brooklyn (likely offering Kris Humphries and MarShon Brooks), Washington (offering everyone but John Wall, Nene and Bradley Beal) and Boston (probably...
The Celtics are active on several trade fronts including talks with the Hawks on Josh Smith.
The Hawks appeared to get the closest to an agreement on a trade with the Bucks on Josh Smith.
Josh Smith remains in Atlanta. That's not good news for the Hawks.
While the Bucks continue to hold trade discussions with the Hawks for Josh Smith, it’s been reported that Milwaukee has made Jennings unavailable in such discussions- adding him to the list of “near-untouchables”, which includes NBA’s leading shot blocker, Larry Sanders, and rookie, John Henson.
According to Marc Stein, ESPN:
Yet amid all of those talks, sources say, Jennings...

Sometimes, the best trades are the ones that are never made. At least, thats what some NBA teams are spinning after Thursdays snoozer of a trading deadline.
And some teams are correct. No deal sure beats a bad one, right?
With that in mind, heres who emerged as the post-deadline winners and losers:
Winners: Milwaukee Bucks
OK, despite all the effort and coming very close, the...
The NBA trade deadline came and went on Thursday, and while a few noteworthy players changed sides, the most intriguing developments of the day may have been the moves that were not made.
Hawks forward Josh Smith, Clippers guard Eric Bledsoe, Jazz big men Al Jefferson and Paul Millsap and numerous other players whose names came up in multiple trade rumors in the lead-up to the deadline...
8 a.m. ET: Everybody is on the clock. The NBA trade deadline arrives Thursday at 3 p.m. ET, marking the last chance this season for teams to add that last pivotal player to put them over the hump — or to dump that extra salary or free-agent-to-be before it is too late.
As usual, the run-up to the deadline has featured no shortage of rumors. Some are intriguing. Some are absurd...
