Former Wahoo Sam Hauser Drains 10 Threes in Shooting Historic Performance

Former Virginia basketball star Sam Hauser made some history on Sunday night, making a career-high 10 three-pointers and doing so in under 23 minutes of playing time to help lead the league-leading Boston Celtics to another blowout win, thrashing the Washington Wizards 130-104 in D.C.

Hauser needed just 13 field goal attempts to reach 10 three-pointers and did so in only 22 minutes and 49 seconds of time on the floor, becoming the first player in NBA history to make at least 10 threes while playing fewer than 24 minutes.

Unfortunately, Hauser exited the game with an ankle sprain early in the third quarter, preventing him from likely shattering Boston's franchise record for threes in a single game, which is currently held by Marcus Smart with 11 threes. Further, Hauser could have made a run at Klay Thompson's all-time NBA record of 14 made threes in a game had he remained in the game.

For now, Hauser will have to settle for new career-highs of 10 made threes and 30 points, continuing his recent blistering shooting from beyond the arc. Hauser is shooting 52.2% from three-point range since the All-Star Break (per Dan Greenberg) and is shooting 43.2% from three overall this season, which ranks 10th in the entire NBA.
