According to hoopsworld.com, the San Antonio Spurs will keep Thomas Gardner and send him to the Austin Toros. Gardner was the first cut from this season's training camp due to a knee injury:

The Portland Trail Blazers and San Antonio Spurs have expressed interest in signing the forward, according to sources. Portland and San Antonio fell in love with Palmer's game during the Portsmouth Invitational and liked what they saw from him during the Las Vegas Summer League.
Palmer averaged 18.9 points, 5.3 rebounds, 5.3 assists, 2.5 steals, 3.8 turnovers, shot 44% from the field, 78% from the free-throw line, 31% from the three-point line while at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. He was with the Washington Wizards this offseason but was waived after playing in one preseason game.
