NBA 24/7 365:
Watching Gerald Green brick his way through the 2012/13 season has become comparable to a drug addiction for yours truly (disclaimer: contrary to what my writing may lead you to believe, I am not currently nor have I ever been addicted to any drug; only NBA basketball) — I realize that it’s a bad habit, that I’m doing nothing but hurting myself… yet I continue to do it anyway. I can’t help it. I want to stop, but I don’t know how. I hate that I’m missing out on so many remarkable basketball happenings out of fear that I’ll fail to catch Gerald Green’s next big highlight, and I understand how the day and age of Youtube, Twitter, and the DVR… yet it continues to keep me tuned in to the Indiana Pacers despite Green’s dismal 36% shooting and meager 7.2 PPG.
I think I need an intervention. But hey, guess who didn’t miss Gerald’s ridiculous, head-at-rim-level blocked shot against the Miami Heat tonight? That’s right, me!
As the above screen cap demonstrates, Gerald’s head is basically 10 feet (120 inches) in the air. The man stands 6’8” (80 inches), which means he leaped approximately 40 inches (3’4”) to spike Mario Chalmers’ layup into photographers’ row. Nothing we didn’t already know he was capable of, but incredibly spectacular nonetheless.
Earlier in the game (which the Pacers won decisively, by the way), Gerald elevated to a similar level to finish what was, for him, a basic alley-oop jam.
But alas, he still finished just 3-11 from the floor. You’re killin’ me, Gerald!

Ladies and Gentleman, it looks like we have an early favorite for the "NBA Block Of The Year" coming courtesy of Indiana Pacers forward Gerald Green.During tonight's game against the Miami Heat, Mario Chalmers appeared to have an easy lay-up until Green rose well above the rim to deny him the basket:
Indiana Pacers coach Frank Vogel likes the message his new contract extension sends.
He says it shows the Pacers' building process is gaining steam and there's no need to change directions.
One day after the team announced it had given Vogel a new deal, he told reporters he was ''excited'' to coach this team beyond this season. The team has not released...
The Indiana Pacers announced head coach Frank Vogel signed a contract extension on Monday. Vogel was hired Jan. 30, 2011, and is in his third season as head coach. Entering Tuesday's home game with Miami, Vogel has a 62-38 record in 100 games as a head coach. Vogel guided the Pacers to a 42-24 record, fifth-best in the NBA, and reached the Eastern Conferences semifinals...
After being hired as the interim for Jim O'Brien in the 2010-11 season, Vogel led the Pacers to consecutive playoff appearances with a loss in the Eastern Conference semifinals last year. They've gotten off to a quick start in 2012-13.
After a loss at Madison Square Garden on November 18th against the Knicks in which the Pacers only scored 76 points, the Pacers were...
INDIANAPOLIS -- It wasn't a playoff game, but the Indiana Pacers showed they can hang with the Miami Heat. The Pacers beat the defending NBA champions 87-77 at Bankers Life Fieldhouse on Tuesday night. The victory was the eighth straight at home for the Pacers. "A great team win, a real solid effort on the glass," Pacers coach Frank Vogel said. "We had great...
The Indiana Pacers have signed forward Dominic McGuire to a 10-day contract.
McGuire is a 6-foot-9, 235-pound forward who has played with six teams during his six-year NBA career. He played nine games earlier this season with the New Orleans Hornets where he averaged 2.1 points and 3.1 rebounds.
McGuire was Washington's second-round draft pick in 2007, No. 47 overall.
Knocking them out of a regular season game at home isn't quite the same as knocking them out of the playoffs, but the Pacers should nevertheless be very happy with their performance last tonight after topping the defending champs 87-77 in Indiana.
They were able to do it without Danny Granger, the team's top scorer over the past five seasons (as well as with a sick and...
Indiana Pacers A tale of two extremes
The Indiana Pacers are Currently 21-14 and coming off of a resounding win against the defending champion Heat. They have been playing this season so far without leading scorer Danny Granger due to a knee injury. In a Charmin soft eastern conference they currently sit in fourth place despite getting woefully inept offensive production from...

On their way to an NBA title last season, the Miami Heat avoided an early scare and eliminated the Indiana Pacers in the second round.
In their first meeting since that series, the Heat will try to snap the Pacers' longest home winning streak in nearly three years Tuesday night.
Miami trailed Indiana 2-1 in an Eastern Conference semifinal series in 2012 before outscoring the...
