The Sixer Sense:
Could Hawes finally be the down-low prescence we have all sought for years?
One of the newest members of the Philadelphia 76ers is center Spencer Hawes, who was acquired through the trade of Samuel Dalembert to Sacramento. With his arrival comes a new face to the City of Brotherly Love, and thus leads to the question, “Who is Spencer Hawes?”. \
- Hawes, born April 28, 1988, is listed at 7′1″ and 245 lbs.
- Drafted in the first round, tenth overall, to the Sacramento Kings. Coming out of the University of Washington, Hawes averaged 14.9 points, and 6.4 rebounds per game.
- In his rookie season (2007), Hawes averaged 4.7 points per game, along with 3.2 rebounds per game.
- His best season came in 2008-09 when he averaged 11.4 points per game and 7.1 rebounds per game.
- He took a slight step back in the 2009-10 season with the struggling Kings, where he averaged 10.0 points and 6.1 rebounds.
- He is the nephew of former NBA center, Steve Hawes.
“Getting to know Andres Nocioni” will appear in the coming days, so stay tuned!
