Former Boston Celtics center Glen “Big Baby” Davis is facing legal consequences after being connected to an alleged scheme to defraud the NBA’s health care benefits plan. Davis was sentenced to 40 months in federal prison for his November 2023 conviction. However, the retired star is choosing comedy to cope with the finding, given his hilariously unhinged social media reaction.

Davis went on Instagram Live to comically detail how he will spend his confined time:

In addition to adjusting his personal habits in a new bathroom, Davis revealed that he will use prison time to increase his physical fitness.

“Imma be swoll though…I’m about to get in so much [better shape]…That’s the only way you can stop me from eating hamburgers: put me in jail. [God said] ‘You don’t wanna stop eating hamburgers and Cheetos? You going to jail,” Davis said.

It appears Glen Davis has a plan to make the most of his time away. His 40-month prison sentence comes after a lengthy investigation.

Federal authorities said that Davis and others defrauded an insurance plan for NBA players and family members of more than $5 million in a scheme that lasted at least four years. The players would make false claims for dental services and various medical care, but those services were never provided, as  ClutchPoints’ Peter Sampson gathered from ESPN’s story.

Davis submitted a total of $132,000 worth of claims, including saying he got $27,200 worth of dental work at Beverly Hills dental office on October 2, 2018. Authorities said he was actually in Las Vegas at the time and flew to Paris that same day, using the geolocation data for his cellphone to prove it.

Davis, who was a reserve forward on the 2008 Celtics championship team, was also ordered to pay $80,000 in restitution. The conditions of his supervised release include attending a financial management class and mandatory drug treatment.
