Golden State Warriors Announce New Roster Move
© Vincent Carchietta-USA TODAY Sports

Prior to their game against the Denver Nuggets, the Golden State Warriors announced that Gui Santos had been sent back down to the G-League Santa Cruz Warriors. In their announcement, the team wrote the following:

"The Golden State Warriors have assigned forward Gui Santos to the team's G League affiliate, the Santa Cruz Warriors, it was announced today. Santos is expected to play in Santa Cruz's game tonight against the Raptors 905 at Kaiser Permanente Arena (7 p.m. PST tipoff). In 23 NBA G League games (all starts) with Santa Cruz this season, Santos is averaging 14.1 points, 7.1 rebounds and 3.0 assists in 28.6 minutes per game. He has appeared in 14 games with Golden State, averaging 3.9 points and 2.4 rebounds in 8.5 minutes per game."

While on this G-League assignment, Santos reportedly suffered a knee injury that is awaiting MRI results, per Jason Dumas of KRON4 News. This will of course be a story to follow, because while Santos has bounced back and forth between the G-League and NBA level this season, his role with the Warriors has grown a bit in recent weeks, seeing some rotation minutes.

Santos is ruled out for Sunday's game against the Nuggets due to right knee soreness, but Anthony Slater of The Athletic reports the injury is not expected to be too serious.
