MIAMI Hold off on that retirement talk While some believe this might be his last season, Los Angeles Clippers forward Grant Hill stressed before Friday nights game against the Miami Heat at AmericanAirlines Arena he could be back in 2013-14 for a 20th year on an NBA roster. Theres definitely a chance, Hill said in an interview with FOX Sports Florida. Im under contract for another year. Hill, 40, is under contract for a guaranteed 2.045 million. So hed walk away from that amount if he retired this summer. The end is near, said Hill, who wouldnt figure to play past 2013-14. I understand and respect that Im no spring chicken. But Im like Ive been for the last four or five years. Its year-to-year." Hill, who had an injury-riddled tenure with Orlando from 2000-07 before having some productive NBA years in his late 30s, has started to think about life after basketball. Known as one of the smartest guys in the NBA, the Duke graduate should have plenty of options. I look forward to that life after basketball, exploring some things that I havent been able to do because of my career, Hill said when asked what hell do whenever he retires. There are some things in the business world, some things around basketball, some things with philanthropy and politics. Growing up in D.C. (hes from the Washington area), (politics) has always been an interest. So could Hill one day be running for office? Well see, said Hill, who entered the NBA in 1994 after having won two NCAA titles and did sit out all of 2003-04 because of a foot injury. My mom (Janet Hill) wants me to. Hill talked about another possibility while throwing in a jab. I might join the dark side and become a member of the media, said Hill, who has a 4.3 scoring average on pace to be a career low but is still rounding into form after missing the first 38 games due to a bone bruise on his knee. Regardless of what he chooses, the personable Hill should have plenty of options. When you walk away, its not easy, Hill said. But with that said, I look forward to it, as crazy as that sounds.
