Found January 22, 2013 on Project Spurs:
The San Antonio Spurs don't usually let the fans in their looser demeanors in the locker room and away from the court. They tend to be quiet while they do their work and then go home. Their fans don't know much about the players or the coaches, besides the antics they show us on television or in interviews. Spurs' shooting guard Danny Green changed that recently while talking to ESPN Playbook. He gave us a glimpse of what "goes behind the scenes," including who has the best nickname. We've known Boris Diaw is called "Bobo" by some of his teammates, but apparently teammate Stephen Jackson has given him a new one. "We call Boris [Diaw] 'Boudini' after Houdini because he's really good at passing the ball." This isn't surprising since Jackson is one of the more entertaining personalities on the team and has been a teammate of Diaw's when they were members of the Charlotte Bobcats. One of the funnier nicknames has to be for Patrick Mills. His intensity and energy on the cart is described by this nickname: "They also call him 'Machine Gun' because he has a quick trigger. He's got a couple of nicknames from different people." Mills is known for his quick shots on the court. As soon as you see him catch the ball, you know it'll most likely be a shot attempt. It looks like it's a characteristic that's admired by his teammates if he's given a nickname, a trait he shares with teammate Gary Neal. Danny Green does reveal some obvious information we've known for a while about coach Gregg Popovich. "Coach [Gregg Popovich] is a funny guy. He's a character. Pop is very sarcastic, and he tells a lot of jokes." From what we've seen from Pop on T.V. and in interviews, this doesn't come surprising. This  is obvious as players and coaches seem to love and get along with Coach Pop. He's a guy who knows how to act around his team both off and on the court. While other coaches are either seen as "buddies" or "dictators", Pop seems to find a balance to make it work and be successful. Finally the rest of the NBA fan base knows something Spurs fans have always known: the San Antonio Spurs aren't as boring as everyone thought they were.
