getty images Gregg Popovich does not like losing. So losing in the NBA Finals had to be the pits. The Spurs appeared on their way to winning the NBA Championship in Game 6 but went on to lose the final two games in their series against the Miami Heat. Afterwards the San Antonio Spurs head coach told the San Antonio Express News that he got “lugubrious” or really sad. Though Popovich said he’s since recovered thanks to a talk from his daughter, Jill. “OK, Dad, let me get this straight: You won four championships, and you go to a fifth Finals. Other coaches lose all the time. But poor Greggy can’t lose because he’s special. Can you please get over yourself? End of story.” He stared at her — then started laughing. Hadn’t his daughter told him the same get-over-yourself line he’s told so many others? “That started me on the path to recovery,” he said. The Spurs play their first preseason game on Oct 9 and their first regular season game on Oct. 30. For those wondering they do play at Miami in the preseason but the two teams do not meet in the regular season until Jan. 26. Though something tells me only winning an NBA Championship will really dull the pain of Game 6 for Popovich.

The San Antonio Spurs are one of the most fascinating teams in the NBA. Every season, they give you the impression that their veterans are too old and won’t have the energy to make a run for an NBA Championship. However, they find themselves in the Playoffs each season. From being able to score in the paint, hit the outside shot to finding the open player, San Antonio Spurs' Boris Diaw definitely makes an impact whenever he is on the court.
But off the court is where he probably would say is where his biggest impact is felt.
Diaw, who has familial ties to Africa (his father is from Senegal), is doing what he can to ensure the people...

The best mascot in the NBA, the San Antonio Spurs Coyote, is up to some shenanigans with the Blazers' mascot and it involves a cheerleader being tied up in front of a train.
The Coyote sent out a photo via Twitter which from the looks of it is rather... interesting.
Obviously it is harmless fun and it's just from a video shoot for the upcoming NBA season. Check it...

On Wednesday, San Antonio Spurs players Tony Parker, Boris Diaw, and Nando De Colo advanced to the Semi-Finals at the 2013 Eurobasket with the French National team. Their Italian Spurs teammate Marco Belinelli would try to do the same on Thursday, however Lithuania would deny Italy any chance of advancement.

Tony Parker still has scars about how the close the San Antonio Spurs were to winning his fourth NBA championship -- most notably the Game 6 collapse that was capped by Ray Allen's three-pointer to send the game into overtime.
The Miami Heat ended up winning Game 6 and capturing the title in Game 7.
"I was lucky enough to win three times already," Parker said. "...
